We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Fumbah Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important part of my success is my willingness to persevere. I feel like that’s what winning in life is all about. Sometimes it takes falling down 10 times to get up and go in the right direction on the 11th try. That’s what my brand is all about, continuing to get up every day and go after your goals. A year ago if you would’ve told me I’d become a successful gym content creator I wouldn’t believe you. It took me getting it wrong several times before it all clicked.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a gym content creator I believe what sets me apart is me showing up authentically as myself in my videos and representing a side of black culture that is very underrepresented in this niche. Honestly, I wouldn’t say my journey was easy or hard. The biggest lesson I learned was if you want support, have something worth supporting. Meaning, the more someone can benefit from you the more likely they are to support your movement. So my advice is to focus on what can you give before worrying about what you can receive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting (and we’re cheating on our normal diet of course) one of the first places I would take them to eat is Grindhouse Killer burgers. I’m in love with the double turkey Grindhouse style burgers there. As a fitness fanatic, most likely the gym will be involved or we’ll visit Stone Mountain for a workout/ hike. For a chill night out we’d probably go to colony square and catch a movie at IPIC, but if we’re looking a for turnt night out we’d probably go to a nightclub like Revel or Opium.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to shoutout my parents since they are the ones who instilled the hustle mentality into me. They always taught me to go after my goals and showed me love and support throughout my journey. Then I want to shoutout my girlfriend Aisha for all the help she’s provided throughout this journey from filming and reviewing videos to supporting me & encouraging me to keep going in the times I wanted to give up.
