We had the good fortune of connecting with Alessio Lacco and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alessio, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our success is staying true to what we do. We never compromise on our principles: we always use high-quality ingredients, constantly strive for perfection, and ensure that we provide top-notch service. These values guide us every day. We have been an Italian catering company since March 2020, and since then, our business has been growing steadily. We always put the customer and the quality of our ingredients first, continuously seek feedback, and make sure everyone is satisfied with our service.
What should our readers know about your business?
The Atlanta Pizza Truck was born out of a passion for authentic Neapolitan pizza and a desire to bring the true taste of Naples to Atlanta. Our journey began in March 2020, and since then, we’ve grown into a well-loved catering service that specializes in delivering an unforgettable pizza experience. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity. We use only the finest ingredients, many of which are imported directly from Italy, to ensure that every bite of our pizza transports you to Naples.
What truly sets us apart is our dedication to maintaining the integrity of traditional pizza-making methods. We stay true to the techniques I learned at the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN) in Naples, which have been passed down through generations. We believe that the key to a perfect pizza lies in the details—the quality of the dough, the freshness of the ingredients, and the precision in cooking. Our mobile wood-fired oven allows us to bring this experience to any location, ensuring that our customers enjoy the same high-quality pizza no matter where they are.
I am incredibly proud of the community we’ve built around The Atlanta Pizza Truck. It’s not just about serving pizza; it’s about creating moments that bring people together. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or a family gathering, we take pride in being part of these special occasions. I’m also excited about the growth we’ve seen and the new opportunities on the horizon, including expanding our offerings and continuing to innovate while staying true to our roots.
The journey to where we are today has been anything but easy. Starting a business in March 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, presented challenges I could never have anticipated. Events were canceled, and there was uncertainty at every turn. However, I used this time to refine our processes, improve our recipes, and focus on building strong relationships with our clients. Persistence, adaptability, and a commitment to quality helped us navigate these difficult times and come out stronger on the other side.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of staying true to your vision while remaining flexible in your approach. The challenges we faced taught me that success doesn’t come from avoiding problems but from facing them head-on and finding creative solutions. I also learned the value of community and the power of word-of-mouth; our growth has been driven by the satisfaction and recommendations of our customers.
I want the world to know that The Atlanta Pizza Truck is more than just a catering service—it’s a testament to the passion and dedication that goes into every pizza we make. Our story is one of resilience, quality, and a deep love for the craft of pizza-making. We are committed to bringing an authentic Neapolitan pizza experience to every event we cater, and we strive to create lasting memories for our customers through our food. Our brand is built on the values of tradition, excellence, and community, and we look forward to continuing to share our story with the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
DAY 1 We’d start with a visit to the Georgia Aquarium, one of the largest in the world, followed by a trip to the World of Coca-Cola to learn about the history of this iconic brand. For lunch, we’d head to Ponce City Market, where we could sample a variety of local cuisines and enjoy some shopping. In the evening, we’d catch a stunning view of the city from the SkyView Atlanta Ferris wheel before grabbing dinner at one of my favorite Italian spots, La Grotta Ristorante Italiano.
DAY 2
We’d spend the day immersing ourselves in Atlanta’s rich history, starting with a visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. Afterward, we’d explore the Atlanta History Center, where we could see exhibits on the Civil War and Southern culture. For lunch, we’d hit up Mary Mac’s Tea Room, a classic spot for Southern comfort food. In the evening, we’d head to the Fox Theatre for a live performance or a classic movie.
DAY 3
We’d spend the day outdoors, starting with a leisurely stroll through Piedmont Park, followed by a walk or bike ride along the Atlanta BeltLine. This is a great way to see some of the city’s neighborhoods and enjoy public art along the way. We’d stop for lunch at Krog Street Market, another fantastic food hall with lots of options. In the afternoon, we’d visit the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and for dinner, we’d enjoy some Neapolitan pizza at Antico Pizza Napoletana.
DAY 4
We’d take a day trip to Stone Mountain Park, where we could hike to the top for panoramic views or take the cable car if we’re feeling less adventurous. We’d also check out the laser show if we’re there in the evening. On the way back to the city, we’d stop for some BBQ at Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, one of the best spots in town.
DAY 5
We’d start the day at the High Museum of Art, exploring its impressive collection of contemporary and classic works. Afterward, we’d visit the nearby Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. For lunch, we’d grab a bite at The Optimist, known for its seafood. In the afternoon, we’d explore the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA), followed by a trip to the Center for Puppetry Arts, which is a fun and quirky place to visit. For dinner, we’d try Staplehouse, a unique restaurant that offers an ever-changing tasting menu.
DAY 6
We’d spend the day shopping in Buckhead, starting at Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, and then visit some of the high-end boutiques in the area. Afterward, we’d relax with a cocktail at the St. Regis Bar. In the evening, we’d head to the lively Midtown area for dinner at South City Kitchen, where we could enjoy some upscale Southern cuisine, followed by a night out at some of the city’s best bars and lounges.
DAY 7
On the last day, we’d take it easy with a visit to the Chattahoochee River, where we could go for a gentle hike or rent kayaks for a leisurely paddle. We’d have a picnic lunch by the river, then head back to the city for a final dinner at Canoe, which offers beautiful riverside dining. We’d end the trip with a visit to a rooftop bar, like the one at Ponce City Market, to toast to an incredible week in Atlanta.
What I love about Atlanta is the blend of history, culture, and modern innovation. There’s something here for everyone, from the rich history to the vibrant food scene, and I love sharing the best of this city with my friends.
