We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleks Kapett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aleks, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Growing up, I was always making short films with my friends, and eventually, that turned into making feature films. Throughout that time, along with my love for storytelling, I developed a love for the art of composition and images.
I had just wrapped up my second feature film, was working a normal 9-5 sales job for a IT recruiting company, and of course was scrolling through social media looking at videos of incredible destinations.
That’s when it hit me. That I couldn’t think of any company that was a one stop shop in providing quality media. Of course you have your freelance photographers and videographers. Your sound guys. But no place that focused on providing that core skillset to anyone.
That’s when I decided to call one of the most knowledgable videographers I knew, Ken Jackson, and we started the Firelite Studios.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Firelite apart is our production capability and knowledge. We’ve studied numerous industries, content types, and have connections with various crew members who specialize in their niches.
Compiling all that with our production equipment allows us to execute for anyone who needs photos, videos, or any kind of media. Be it an actor needing a headshot or a full-scale commercial, we’re familiar with all levels of production.
On top of all that, we work very closely with our clients. Most people are delivered the final product after maybe one round of notes, and are charged for any additional changes in edits. We prioritize not just the front end questions, but also the backend, because we know how things can change once you start seeing the physical products in front of you.
That’s why we offer unlimited revisions until final delivery. We make sure our clients get exactly what they were looking for and more 🙂
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
What are the full extent of the rules because this could be a worldwide trip, with required stops in Greece and Japan.
If we were to stay in Atlanta though, and we had a full weekend, then it’s simple.
Friday, just got in, we’re relaxing and catching a comedy show, and having a few drinks.
Saturday, we’d chill out by the pool at my complex morning, get brunch going at Corner Tavern, have a DD (of course) take us up to DT Alpharetta, get some corn hole going, couple more drinks and hanging out. Head to the Avalon for some virtual reality game box shenanigans, maybe a little shopping. Then as the kind host I aspire to be, I leave it to my bff’s discretion to chill at a sports bar like Ship N Anchor in Sandy Springs, or we can late night it at Dark Horse and a couple other spots.
Sunday morning, recovery day. We hydrate, relax, order some taco bell, and the couch and pool will be our best friends all day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to Shoutout Ken Jackson. Firelite wouldn’t be as good as it is without him, and definitely would have taken me a lot longer to develop our video production quality.
Throughout my journey, my parents of course deserve all the credit. They instilled me with a great work ethic, and even though they have always been cautious and protective about my dream chasing, they’ve still supported it fully. I literally wouldn’t have the opportunity to do anything I’ve done without them and without God.
Lastly, Horace Priester needs a shoutout. He’s the best friend I made all the short films and feature films with, and working with him on all those projects is the foundation of a majority of skills I use today.
