We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleasa Word and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aleasa, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
My legacy is tied to my purpose. My purpose statement is ” Inspiring hope while holding on to my own even in challenging times and spaces ” With that in mind I want to leave a legacy of hope for all. In my opinion the concept of “hopelessness” is a lie. Even a homeless person will hope for warmth, food, shelter etc, and that keeps me pushing to align my actions with my life purpose statement. We must continue to forge forth with hope in all situations, the future of humanity must include hope.
What should our readers know about your business?
I have a boutique coaching and consulting firm. I offer diversity and anti-racism training solutions for individuals and small businesses based on foundational pillars of emotional intelligence as well as leadership and personal effectiveness coaching. Building confidence and shattering barriers of fear are important to us. My firm is different because we look at diversity and emotional intelligence solutions from the whole human perspective and not just in the workplace. We create deep, restorative internal and external culture shifts. We also offer non-traditional hours to ensure flexibility around the business of life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take my friend on an Atlanta foodie journey. We’d start at Thai Basil north of the city in Cumming, then mosey on down to VeGreen Vegan Asian Fusion in Duluth. After that, we’d make our way to the city stopping by Plant Based Pizzeria in Sandy Springs quickly moving on to visit all the eateries in Ponce City Market and finally grabbing a to go snack for the road at The Slutty Vegan. Other stops would include a tourist visit to the Historic Baps Temple Mandir in Lilburn, the MLK Memorial Site Museum, the Botanical Gardens, and a comedy stop to the Atlanta Comedy Theater to round it out.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my business colleague Marie Roker-Jones who is a constant source of support and encouragement.
