We had the good fortune of connecting with Alain Lemaire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alain, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
What has helped me over the years to keep going or to just give up is knowing that my career, and the work I do has a purpose. Yes, the number one goal is to earn an income and take care of your responsibilities. But, the other goal is to also know if the work that you do can make an impact on the lives of those you are serving, in your community, and even on the lives of those working with you. Being a chef, caterer, and entrepreneur in the foodservice industry is a very tough task. It can take a big toll on your mental and physical health, and affect even your personal because you end up sacrificing so much.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am an award winning chef and the host chef of the “Luda Can’t Cook” series on Discovery+ with award winning rapper, actor, restauranteur Chris “Ludacris” Bridges. I am also a contestant of the Food Network’s hit series Cutthroat Kitchen, and Chopped. I am the Co-owner and Executive Chef of Sensory Delights, a full-service catering company based out of South Florida. He is a native of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he first discovered his interest in cooking.

As a private chef, I can create specialized menus based on your requests, grocery shop, prepare meals at your home (or delivery to you), customize menus for food allergies or dietary preference, provide you with detailed instructions for the weekly menus like cooking times, temperatures, etc., cook, serve, and clean up or even travel with you or to you.

From a small private and intimate dinner to a large gathering such as weddings, corporate functions etc., our team of professionals will handle all your event needs. We pride ourselves in delivering creativity and always providing service that is beyond expectations.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend of mine was visiting, I would take them to College Park and eat at The Real Milk and Honey Atlanta, take them to visit Downtown area with the Atlanta Aquarium, the Coca-Cola Museum, MLK Museum. At night time, I would take them bar hopping at some of the hottest clubs and bars the city has to offer still in Downtown. And for dinner I would take them to visit Rocksteady Atlanta, this electric restaurant that has some Haitian influenced dishes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to send a shoutout to my family, my other half, my close friends, and my colleagues at Sensory Delights who are always there no matter what. Big shoutout to some of my fellow close Haitian chefs such as Gregory Gourdet, Sebastien Salomon, Chris Viaud, who are continuously pushing the envelope and promote Haitian cuisine.
