We had the good fortune of connecting with Akoya Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Akoya, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
I would definitely have to say that putting God first in any & everything I plan to do going forward. Right that would be keeping my eyes on my own plate.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career title if you ask me, is Go-getter . I can honestly say there is no specific thing that I desire to be other than financially free and at peace. Something Id say I’m most proud of is my determination , no matter how difficult the road ahead might seem; there’s pretty much nothing that can get in the way of the things I desire for myself my family and generations to come. Id like to give a lot of credit to my amazing personality and open mindedness , of course I’m beyond intelligent. But to have all the intelligence in the world and lack compassion or just personality at best wouldn’t get you as far as a person like me . Nothing about life was supposed to be easy , so no it wasn’t .. not as hard as others but difficult along the way for sure , and that’s okay. That was one of the first things I had to come to grips with to help overcome most of my challenges , then get organized , set goals deadlines everything . Some of the lessons I’ve learn along the way would be for one , Focusing on anyone else’s plate will only slow up my journey . Secondly Id say that Failing is okay as well as making mistakes . Always have a plan , for any thing you would like to do plan it out always , even it doesn’t go all the way right , at least you have something to refer or look to for a better try at it . To know me is to know that Imma go hard for all the things I deserve & for the people I love . Anything I do I put my heart and soul in it , From my food to the care I give to be people & I just know one day the whole world will know me for these very same things .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My go-to spots for a good time would have to be Vvs on Old-National , BQE brunches are always lit ,Cru South On A Tuesday, Zari’s on a Saturday , 1145 has great food & vibes and few more gems here in Atlanta .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s so many wonderful Up and coming entrepreneurs that comes to mind , I would like to shout out Dream Body Recovery Atlanta . Randi & her team is rising to become the #1 recovery Post -op care house in the Atl .
