We had the good fortune of connecting with Akinola Coppin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Akinola, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want people to know that Realshomari cared about the creative arts and also the artists. I want people to feel comfortable coming to me for promotion, no matter how big or small their following is, because what and who they influence is much more important.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Realshomari Show- TV talk show was just a thought but the whole idea of the show came through my good friend Ayana John- (International Superstar.) We were having a conversation and she told me I was very good at what I did, especially when I interviewed celebrities. She said, “Realshomari, you know you should start a TV talk show. You can do it. You got that Oprah Winfrey & Ryan Seacrest vibe and you make the guest feel comfortable when they come on the set for an interview.”
What set me apart from the rest is I like to make my guest feel comfortable whenever they come on the show, as well as make the interview enjoyable for them. I then find out what they want to promote before proceeding.
It was not an easy road for me coming up in the music industry, I created this platform mostly to promote new artists and artists on the whole, cause I know as a new person coming in the field it is very “HARD,” especially if you don’t have connections or information on how to make the first step. I also have to thank Dj Puffy, Dj Rico Love, Dj Inidan & Chris Gayle, Lady Essence and Dj Dove, Devon for the advice they given me.
My two main challenges were wondering if I was capable of doing the the talk show and if people would like it. I also struggled with doing it on my own without sponsorship and the lack of a manager to help me along the way.
The lesson I learned throughout this journey is to always be kind to my peers and of course my guests when they come on the show. I want to make them enjoy themselves and ensure that they are happy, I learned to just have fun while doing the show with my amazing team- Vidpic (one of the best in the game) and the rest.
I want the world to know about my brand. I am here for the people and to showcase amazing, creative talent to the world. I love to help people daily. It is in my blood. My story wasn’t easy coming up in the business but I kept the faith and continue to trust God all the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all I like to thank my mum, dad and family for being so supportive of my career. I would like to thank these mentors: Teddy Calderon, Clive Blackett, Lady NV, Vayne, KB Kleen, (Tyreec & Riana my two bestfriends) and Cecila Lythcott . I’d also like to give a big shootout to Tezz Cart’R, Marcia Ifill, Ronald Fenty, Rosemary Mcknight and my amazing crew from The Realshomari Show- Vidpic, King Vybz, OG Skeete, Art Behind The Lens, Mr Earl Joseph- (United States) For Seeing The Vision.
