We had the good fortune of connecting with Aireale Monai’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aireale, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind establishing and initiating my business was to create platform that uplifts, highlights and beautifies a person’s imperfections. My ultimate mission is to create a platform that embodies realistic narratives, body images, and distributes resources to infuse self-love. Arita LaShon has various exhibits, forthcoming, emphasizing the body positive community, self-love and empowerment. Further information about Arita LaShon can be located on the website www.aritalashon.com.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have always been rebellious soul and I live for a challenge. When I officially decided to construct and format the blueprints behind each project I questioned myself several times debating whether I was prepared for the task. My mind is always my biggest critic, so once I decided to overcome all the self-doubt and overthinking for tenacity and ambition, everything began to mesh together beautifully. Although we are in the midst of everything I have a sense of fulfillment for not letting my mind detour my mission. This has not been a straightforward process! I’ve cried, wanted to give up, felt defeated, and second guessed my mission; nevertheless, I continue to excel forward because the end results will be historic. I want the world to embrace the journey and legacy Arita LaShon is establishing, we are definitely uniquely resilient innovators inspiring evolution.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Atlanta area has so many unique and eccentric establishments! Some of my favorites that I would include on an itinerary would be Thumbs Up Diner and The 5 Bistro & Cocktails for an amazing breakfast/ brunch, Tom, Dick and Hank, Whisky Mistress and The Suite Food Lounge for some vibrant socialization combined with amazing food and cocktails. For a naturalist and Zen excursion I would recommend Sweetwater Creek State Park, Arabia Mountain and Vickery Creek Trail at Roswell Mill for breathtaking scenery and hiking trails.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
None of my dreams, ambition or vision would be possible without my daughter Alexandria. I was so skeptical and nervous about having a daughter because I’m such a tomboy; however she is literally my twin, my only girl, my mini me. The composition of the “Dear Ally” children book series is dedicated to my daughter and the trials she has experienced through her ongoing childhood. Through every struggle comes a lesson, with a lesson comes growth, with growth comes a vision, with a vision comes success. Shout out to my Dear Ally for being perfectly imperfect! Some other individuals that I would like to dedicate a shout out to are the women affiliated with the Big Body project! I want to thank them for selflessly utilizing their platforms as a vessel for change, awareness and transition. Everyone has a story to tell, I am anxiously awaiting for their anecdotes to unravel.
