Hi Ailisha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The thought process behind AJ Consulting is taking organizations complex problems and developing pragmatic strategies to transform organizations. Using a forward-thinking approach to develop cutting edge solutions, incorporating technology to develop effective processes which foster high performing teams, healthy learning cultures and fostering operational efficiency. A rise in the global economy created a need for women with multiple expertise to serve as subject matter expertise, advancing organizations. This is what launched AJ Consulting in 2015.
What’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with
One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is many leaders use a one size fit all without incorporating best practices, common sense, customization, conducting analyses, performing organizations health checks, and relying on their talent. The most important lesson my business has taught me is devising solid strategies to execute in business practices plays an integral role in transforming organizations?
What habits do you think help you succeed?
The characteristics that forged my success includes transparency, passion, determination, incredible work ethic, partnering, consistency, building client relationships, understanding the business needs, and turning them into solutions using a blended approach with evidence-based strategies and work experience. Implementing evidence-based strategies, participating in industry training, adaptability, taking risk, decisiveness, and the ability to expeditiously connect with clients and their workforce plays an integral role in my success.
Risk taking: How do you think about risk, what role has taken risk played in your life/
In business risks are inventible. Therefore, to mitigate risks, you must anticipate it, in order to be prepared. Taking risks is deeply ingrained in my philosophy for success in this regard it has been the mainstay in attracting my clientele.
What habits do you feel helped you succeed?
My deep intimacy with God, my abilities to integrate quickly in diverse work cultures, I can anticipate problems and quickly identify solutions. My soft skills are paramount to fostering high performance.
What is the most important factor behind your success/the success of your brand?
The most important factor behind my success is my drive for Excellence.
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to be all inclusive with teams. Utilizing openness, flexibility and active listening are lifelines to achieving business success.
Work life balance how has your balance changed over time? How do you think about balance?
My balance hasn’t changed as it is important to successful outcomes.
How did you come up with your business idea?
There was a substantial need for small minority owned consulting business. As a result, my business idea evolved catching on fire.
I pursued this creative idea because there was an urgent need. My educational background and subsequent experiences in this field of my expertise propelled me to begin AJ Consulting.
What are you inspired by?
The movement for women with expertise, history, and the tremendous impact that women have in modern business inspires me.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a consulting firm offering subject matter expertise in all aspects of human resources, incorporating technology and change management. I am most proud of my global and clients which I have served as a consultant with. I got to where I am today as a result of hard-work, exceptional service and expertise with the ability to solve organizations complex problems or challenges.
This was not a easy journey. A lot of time, intentional planning, prayer and training has made my firm recognized for its work. However, there are huge consulting firms that I have to compete with.
AJ Consulting has gained a reputation for expeditiously partnering with organizations to strengthen operational efficiencies, gain a return on investment and add value which has positioned the firm to land top clients and startups.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend visiting the area would entail visits to the high museum, several restaurants Chops being at the top of the list. Depending on the season, I would take my friend to a sport event-football or basketball. The Civil Rights Museum, World Of Coca-Cola, Aquarium and a few lounges. Suite lounge and Fellaship area a few spots I would visit.
Some of the most exciting places are Six Flags, White Water and Lake Lanier.

I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated as this organization stands on the pillars of Service to all mankind, Excellence and advancement of Women. My roots of strong women excelling becoming entrepreneurs and my faith in God is who I credit for AJ Consulting success.
