We had the good fortune of connecting with Agnes Ng and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Agnes, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
For my day job as a commercial interior designer, the biggest thing that outsiders are unaware of is that we are not decorators. That come across a lot when people first heard of the industry I am in, but we are more than what television shows present. We don’t just pick finishes, we do everything from planning, designing, to construction documentation.

As a amateur photographer, the outsiders are probably unaware of how much time and effort a photograph can take. It is way more than just a click on the camera.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an interior designer, I am most excited about when the design became a reality where you can see and touch it. It wasn’t easy to get to where I am today but I had a lot of support and guidance along the way. My strategy of overcoming challenges and the lessons I’ve learned along the way is to not panic when challenges comes up, believe in myself and do things one step at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ponce City Market for sure would be one of the spot to hang out and have some good food. It has a great variety of food to choose from and grabbing a drink on the roof top with the view of Atlanta is a must. It is also right next to the Beltline where you can take a walk to Piedmont park. Another spot which I would recommend is Westside Provision, another location with an amazing selection of shops and restaurants. There is one building that I always bring people to if they are from the architecture world, it is the Marriott Marquis building in Downtown Atlanta. When you look up from the middle of the lobby level, it looks like the interior of a whale, it is absolutely magnificent! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As an interior designer, I would like to shoutout to the company I work for, my family, and my friends. They supported me all the way to where I am today. If it wasn’t for all their support, I probably won’t be able to get this far.

As an amateur photographer, I would like to shoutout to all my family and friends that complimented and encouraged me along the way. I would also like to give myself a pat on the back for not giving up throughout the journey.
