Meet Agatha Marshall | Business Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Agatha Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Agatha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have a servant’s heart. I helped people in any capacity that they needed and wouldn’t charge a dime. I was married at the time J.A.K.S Management was formed and it was a management company in the entertainment industry. After my divorce and having to make a transition, I rebranded J.A.K.S and turned to the business world. There was a need. I saw people wanting to create a business, apply for grants, and form partnerships and non-profits. I already had the experience, tools, resources, and knowledge. Plus I needed a source of income that was contingent on being a single mom. I took what I knew and started to really help people. I just want to see people better themselves without having them break the bank to do it.
What should our readers know about your business?
J.A.K.S. Management is a business consulting company. We specialize in small business setups from establishing and registering your business with your state and taking it a step further in assisting with standard operating process management. We also oversee the startup of other business ventures. We have operated in many different sectors such as entertainment, insurance, for-profit, non-profit, and transportation industries.
I’m the person everyone comes to, to put out fires. If they don’t know it, they automatically know that I will know, have the resources to share, or just be here to help figure things out. Starting this company up was hard and still is hard. With the world today and so many things that come into “business consulting” many people don’t trust the process. Luckily for me, with challenges, I’ve pushed past what others have done in the industry and led with excellence. My foundation is in God, so no decision isn’t made without His direction.
Business is hard. I would give the knowledge away and have done so in the past. I’ve also helped a few businesses reach millions with my expertise without them paying me a dime. I would barter services rather than putting the income into my bank account. What the last two years have taught me is, that bartering is good when it’s needed, but it doesn’t put food on the table or keep the light on. I’ve had to get off that ride and truly believe that my craft and gift can be rewarded.
Being a single mom of three babies – my biggest fear is failing them. I come from a small town in MS where even then I was told I wouldn’t be where I was today. Really having to go out there on my own and learn each day to fulfill the needs of my clients and my business is rewarding. Knowing that God had his hand in the mix of my success.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve visited numerous places from Bali, to Kuwait and Dubai, to Europe. The one place that has my heart and my number one spot to take my friends (and a goal I want to reach – all-expense paid) is to Cape Town, South Africa. The experience would be out of this world. Hiking Lion’s head mountain in the morning, late lunch in wind country, then dinner by the beach in Clifton Bay. We would eat at Mama Africas and just dance the night away. We wouldn’t stay in Cape Town the whole journey – we would have to take a 2 hr plane ride over to Jo-burg (Johannesburg, South Africa). Where we would do a Safari for a day. Head back to Cape Town where we would visit Siba Mtongana restaurant “Siba the Restaurant” at the waterfront. Shopping is a must with the locals at Green Square Market, as well as visiting Bo-Kaap and having a full-on photo shoot with the colorful house. We would end our trip with sunset on one of the seven wonders of the world “Table Mountain” and then head to the spa to close our trip. It would be memorable.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have a ton of people to think like my grandmother, my tribe, and my village.
What really pushes me would be #mybigthree, Kam, Sy, and Karter. They are the backbone to my story and what pushes me more each day.
