We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrienne Stoker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrienne, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a naturally creative person, it made sense for me to gravitate towards a creative field of work. I’ve always been fascinated by interiors but it wasn’t until I was in college that I entertained the idea of studying interior architecture. I knew I wanted to go into a field where I could help others improve their quality of life but wasn’t exactly sure what that would look like for me. I was initially a nursing major when I started college but figured out pretty early on that wasn’t my calling. I looked into the interior architecture program at UTC and knew it would be the perfect fit. It became clear to me that a profession in interior design offered the perfect blend of art and science that I had been searching for—a way to help others while expressing my creativity through my work.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting a business is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I’ve ever embarked on. I started my business in the midst of Covid after taking a step back to evaluate what I wanted my life and job to look like. For me, that looked like having a job with more flexibility and working with clients whose vision and values align with my own. I believe that approaching each project with purpose, intention, and authenticity is key to crafting a truly well-designed space. I realized that pursuing clients who are aligned with these values allows them to receive the best possible outcome while also enabling each project to become an authentic representation of myself and my art. Over the past few years, my business has evolved greatly and it’s shaping into something I’m really proud of. It hasn’t been easy getting to where I am today but I’ve learned so much along the way and know that I’ll continue to learn and evolve as a business owner throughout my entire career.

My business, Adrienne Stoker Interiors, provides a comprehensive range of design services, including new construction, extensive renovations, and complete furnishing and decor solutions. We collaborate closely with architects and builders to manage all stages of the design process, from selecting architectural elements and finishes to curating furnishings, fabrics, and accessories. When you walk into one of the spaces we’ve designed, we want it to feel like an immersive experience- the soft touch of luxurious linen, the scent of a newly lit candle, and the sunlight streaming through a thoughtfully placed window. Each detail thought out with purpose and intention.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I currently live in Chattanooga but visit the Atlanta area pretty frequently. When my husband and I pop down for a weekend trip, our first stop is usually Ponce City Market- we love walking around and seeing all of the local vendors and snacking our way through the food court. After doing some shopping, we usually head over to Inman Park for a stroll through the neighborhood and then to BeetleCat for a glass of wine and dinner. If we’ve stayed the night, we will grab a coffee and croissant at Bread & Butterfly before heading out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d have to say my friends have been some of my biggest supporters since I started my business. Several of my dearest friends are also interior designers who I went through design school with so it’s been really special to see the evolution of our careers since we were in school together. It’s so important to have a solid support system when running a business and I’m so fortunate I have such a close group of friends who are just a phone call away when I need advice, reassurance, and a pep talk to keep going. I also can’t forget to mention my husband- he’s been my biggest motivator to keep going and growing my business since day one.
