We had the good fortune of connecting with Adisak Thanesanukul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adisak, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The visual effects (VFX) industry is a complex and often underappreciated field where artists dedicate countless hours to meticulously craft stunning scenes frame by frame. This demanding process requires an extraordinary level of attention to detail, collaborative effort, and technical expertise. VFX artists must possess problem-solving skills and adaptability to overcome technical challenges and tight deadlines while staying abreast of the latest advancements in technology. Despite their crucial role in bringing fantastical worlds to life in films, TV shows, and video games, VFX artists often remain unsung heroes, working tirelessly behind the scenes to create immersive experiences for audiences worldwide.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artwork is a fusion of aged and weathered textures juxtaposed with modern objects, reflecting a unique blend of traditional and digital artistry. With a strong foundation in photo-realistic techniques, I meticulously craft environments where ethereal elements intertwine with everyday settings. My aesthetic vision often involves burying spiritual artifacts within these landscapes, inviting the audience to embark on a journey of discovery. Each piece is carefully crafted to evoke the sensation of exploration, as viewers uncover evidence of an ancient world layered beneath the surface of their current reality. Attention to detail is paramount in storytelling, with every tiny element contributing to the rich narrative tapestry that brings my creations to life.
My work stands out not only for its aesthetic qualities but also for my exceptional communication abilities. Even in the face of tight deadlines, I remain calm and composed, effectively navigating through the creative process while maintaining clear and open lines of communication with collaborators. This ability to stay level-headed and focused under pressure has earned me the trust and respect of those I work with, allowing for smooth and productive collaborations. Whether discussing creative concepts or troubleshooting technical challenges, my adept communication skills ensure that everyone involved is on the same page and that the project progresses steadily toward its completion.
Throughout my professional journey, I was fortunate to be given a significant opportunity to contribute to the blockbuster film “Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantum Mania.” This project, renowned for its complex visual effects and demanding production timelines, presented a notable challenge. However, equipped with determination and skills refined over years of dedication, I eagerly tackled the task. Despite facing tight deadlines and lofty expectations, I approached my responsibilities with precision and innovation, ensuring that every aspect of my work met the exacting standards of such a high-profile production. As the project progressed, my commitment and performance garnered recognition. In acknowledgment of my contributions and ability to thrive under pressure, I was granted a well-deserved promotion, marking a significant milestone in my career within the film industry. This experience reinforced my belief in the feasibility of achieving success through hard work, resilience, and seizing opportunities as they arise.
In addition to my role in “Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantum Mania, I had the incredible opportunity to contribute to my favorite TV series, “The Boys,” during its fourth season. Working at SpinVFX, a prestigious company recognized for its collaborations with major industry giants such as Netflix, Nickelodeon, Sony, and Paramount Pictures, has been a dream come true. As SpinVFX continues to undertake high-profile projects, I am appreciative of the opportunity to be part of a team consistently delivering cutting-edge visual effects to global audiences. My involvement in both “Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantum Mania” and “The Boys” season 4 has not only enhanced my skill set but has also deepened my enthusiasm for storytelling through visual artistry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would probably recommend your first day exploring downtown with visits to Centennial Olympic Park, the World of Coca-Cola, and the Georgia Aquarium. Day two, immerse yourself in history at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site and the Atlanta History Center. On day three, enjoy outdoor activities at Piedmont Park and the Atlanta BeltLine, followed by dinner at Ponce City Market. Day four is dedicated to arts and entertainment, including the High Museum of Art and a show at the Fox Theatre. Day five, wander through charming neighborhoods like Inman Park and Virginia-Highland, then sample local breweries in the Westside Provisions District. For day six, take a day trip to Stone Mountain Park for outdoor adventures and historic attractions. Finally, on day seven, enjoy a locally homemade comfort food at my favorite restaurant called Mary Mac’s Tea Room before departing.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a big shoutout to my photographer friend, T.erk (https://www.instagram.com/t.erk_/), whom I met during college. T.erk has been an incredible source of support and knowledge throughout my journey in the world of filmmaking. His passion for the craft is infectious, and he’s always willing to share insights and expertise about the intricate movie-making process. Through our conversations and collaborations, T.erk has helped me realize that making movies isn’t just a distant dream but a tangible goal that can be achieved with dedication and perseverance. His encouragement and guidance have been invaluable, and I’m incredibly grateful to have him as a friend and mentor on this creative journey.
