We had the good fortune of connecting with Ace Blanks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ace, what do you attribute your success to?
One thing that I believe makes my brand successful is my social media presence. I believe my social media page has had a huge part in my music’s success. I had decided I wanted to use my home as my own stage and came up with a concept of home music video clips to wet appetites while I prepare real visuals where fashion meets artistry. I allow my clothing to set the scene of the song and follow through with choreography I create myself to show people a small portion of my artistic ability. There is so much more than what people see in a minute long video clip. But I believe I’ve figured out how to keep people interested and I am doing something not many others are which I believe helps me stand out visually.

But I would say the most important factor to my brand’s success is authenticity! Authenticity in my personality! Authenticity in my talent! Authenticity in my overall being. The age of social media has allowed us to really look deep into people and we can tell if this person is being true to themselves or faking the funk for likes and followers! Social media is great, but does not control who I am or determine my worth and self-value and I believe my audience sees that. I just post and hope that it reaches and inspires someone else. I believe they know that performing is not who I’m trying to be. They see that it truly is embedded in my DNA! I come from a families where I’m the only person on both sides to ever pursue entertainment professionally so I know this was something God placed in me to be! I may not be the most perfect singer or most perfect dancer. I may not even write the most perfect song, but what I am perfect at is being authentic and when you have that and people can truly see who YOU are they will love you for being imperfect because no one is ever truly perfect!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First off I want to say greetings all I’m Ace Blanks (The name Ace coming from pledging Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity’ Inc.) and I just appreciate you all even taking the time to read this! I’m a singer-songwriter and recording artist. I’m also a trained actor and dancer so I just like to call myself an overall entertainer. I am an R&B artist but what makes me truly unique is I’m an R&B artist that raps just as well. I call it R&B with Hip Hop flair!

My debut album “A.C.E. (All Current Emotions)” is available on all streaming platforms and I promise if you give it a spin you won’t be disappointed! There is truly something for everyone and REAL R&B vocals that will hold you over til the release of my Sophomore Album. And let’s not forget the bars! Think of me as a male version Doja Cat but more of a singer where she is more of a rapper! There may be people that do what I do as far as talent, but there is NO ONE that does it the way that I do as far as my style. One thing I know is I can’t be duplicated and I believe that has helped bring people into me as an entertainer. One of the things that makes a music artist successful is having something no one else can give them. I promise if you listen to my album you will know exactly what I mean and have no regrets! Not to mention I write every single word 100% myself! Not all music artist can say the same.

One thing that makes my music unique is when you listen to it you see color! And what I mean by that is you immediately feel the vibrance! You immediately can hear my personality through the vocals and rap lyrics! And I believe you truly get a boy next door feeling from me. And that truly is who I am. I’m extremely humble and I believe that is very important to my success and brand! I’m just like anyone else and relatable and that can’t be bought! You will FEEL when listening to my music.

What makes me the most proud is the fact that I’m able to be myself doing all of this. I’ve always been an androgynous vocalist and performer tapping into both my male and female energy with Prince being a huge influence in that regard. A lot of times it’s hard for people to wrap their head around it when watching me or hearing my full Soprano, but at the end of the day it’s me being authentic to myself. And to know that there are people that are truly here for it and respect it means so much. When I was younger I believed I had to be hyper masculine to be taken seriously, but today I’m much wiser and KNOW who I am.

Of course there are many challenges. It’s never easy when you are trying to achieve greatness especially in music! It’s a struggle to have to finance everything yourself career wise and still take care of all your personal life matters. I was even homeless for 8 months during Covid after losing my apartment to a senseless wrong apartment shooting at the same time of having Covid. I still deal with the mental trauma of being inside inches away from death. But what I appreciate is no matter what God has been with me and made sure I always had what I needed. There are always going to be challenges in life no matter who you are, but it’s about trusting God through it and still having faith. But you CANNOT give up!!!

To be perfectly honest I have a loooong way to go before I can consider myself truly successful as I’m striving to be, but what I will say is I’m enjoying the journey and proud of where I am and even being a part of this makes me successful. It’s not about how much you have, but knowing what you present to the world is quality to someone. And even if I can touch one soul then that means I’m serving my purpose. The “more” will come later, but appreciate the “few” that you have.

But in a nutshell I’m just a little boy from Fayetteville, North Carolina chasing big dreams in Atlanta, Georgia with so much of a journey ahead of him. I have to shoutout Douglas Byrd High School, Fayetteville State University, and grad school Hollins University for all allowing me the stage and platform to perform as much as I possibly could to grow and become stronger as the entertainer I am today! These institutions fully believed in my gifts as a student and allowed me to fully tap into them with numerous opportunities and I will always be grateful to them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being that I am not an Atlanta native I don’t know every single thing there is to know about this place! Lol But what I will say is I always will have a good time. Some of my favorite spots are “Anatolia” in downtown for some hookah and great food! You have to try the Beyoncé Kiss hookah. It’s the best. But did I mention I’m a huge foodie!!! So if my friend comes in town we will be doing that! From “Juicy Crab” for some amazing crab legs to Kandi Burruss’s “Blaze” for a succulent steak! And we can’t forget Mary Mac’s Tea Room midtown for the best soul food in the A!

But of course you know we have to throw in some party fun too! Nothing like going to Suite Lounge and getting tipsy or going to Boogalou’s and getting drunk and having fun on the swings. And T.I.s “Trap Museum” is always a great place to slide through. I actually helped create the trap escape room inside of the museum so I’m particularly proud to be a part of that experience. But if you catch me on a good night we may be able to take trip to Blue Flame or Magic City. 😜 I don’t even think I need to explain what those are. Lol

At the end of the day fun is about who you are with and the memories you make. So truly me and my friends could go anywhere or just stay at home with a game of Monopoly with Tequila and herbal and have just as much of a good time! But I’m a person always down for something new so if you come visit me I’m always open to doing what you like as well. Long as it’s no drama and all positivity I’m good.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course God first and foremost gets ALL OF THE CREDIT! Without him I literally would be nothing. He made me the person I am for a reason and I can only hope and pray to do him justice and make him proud. However when it comes to the human realm I have to give my mother Shylda Nix her flowers! As her only child she truly is my best friend and has been there for me every single step of the way whether it was emotionally, financially, or just physically being there. I truly can’t imagine the person I would’ve been without her in my life. God made her my mother for a reason and I’m truly grateful! But along with her God allowed me to have three more amazing parents. My father Ronald Blanks, Sr. And also my step parents Deanza Nix and Sharolyn Blanks! They all have been there for me in their own ways and are just the epitome of super parents and as long as I have them nothing can hold me back or bring me down! And last but not least I have to shoutout Chyna Redd. She was the one who saw the potential in 15-year-old me and showed me how to be a real artist from fashion, to my first time ever writing and recording, to just knowing what it means to be a real STAR!! ⭐️
