Hi Abriel, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
“Always have a PLAN B!”

When I started my private practice, I didn’t battle with the idea of having a Plan B or not because, as Mr. Steve Harvey suggests “If you have a Plan B, you’ll end up using it.” I whole-heartedly agree with this idea! It’s just like setting multiple alarm clocks with just a few minutes in between, more than likely you will adhere to the very last notification.

Knowing that Transparent Truth Counseling Services is the only option that I’m focusing on, allows me to fully become the best business owner and therapist that I can be. If I face a challenge, I have no other choice but to face it head on. If I’m lacking in an area, I have no other choice but to get the tools that I need to succeed. Having a Plan A only, allows me to challenge myself in ways that I wouldn’t if I knew that there were other options!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Transparent Truth Counseling Services

My goal is to help clients overcome anxiety, depression, and feelings of being overwhelmed by unlearning debilitating narratives that keep them physically, mentally and emotionally strained. My clients often describe themselves as over-achievers as they find themselves under the pressure of “doing it all”, so much so that they disregard their humanity. They value other’s opinions in order to gain and maintain a sense of self-worth. They may also find themselves desiring to be in control, driven by perfectionism and self-protection.

I help individuals explore and challenge beliefs and behaviors to create space to unlearn narratives that no longer serve them. I help clients redefine what it means to be “enough” or valuable and provide tools such as boundary setting, self-validation, mindfulness, etc., to help clients become at peace with their authentic selves and their humanity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Savannah, GA made a seafood guru out of me! So having the best time ever would involve being somewhere in between Juicy Crab and Fontaine’s Oyster House. With being a full time entrepreneur, wife, and mother of two, being social outside of those roles comes less often than I would like. With that, the best time ever these days would look a lot like hosting a “Girl’s Night In!” This looks like finding a TikTok theme around social gatherings, listening to 90s R&B, playing games, and eating seafood of course! It’s always refreshing for me to be able to nurture meaningful friendships without much distraction from the outside world especially when the opportunity isn’t as frequent.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, God is the real CEO of my business! There is no way I would have started this business without his instruction and continued help. I am so grateful that God has trusted me with this business!

I would also like to thank my dear colleagues Khalliah, Kiara, and Beverley! These women all started their private practice before I did and were willing to help me along the way, step-by-step! I am so grateful that I have their continued support and that I am able to learn from them as they continue to inspire me as business owners and therapists.

I have to recognize my husband for trusting me enough to take this leap of faith, supporting me, and consistently encouraging me! I am so appreciative of the love and support that I receive from my family and spiritual mentors!
