We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Flynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, what inspires you?
One thing I think inspires me most is story telling. As a person who loves to create stories, I find it helpful to treat every step in my life as a necessary chapter to build a larger picture. Bad and good things always happen and I think of it as a natural balance. I can learn from each of these experiences which motivate me to do better. I’m also a very huge advocate for not allowing my past or any negativity to hold me back from my life. No matter if traumatic or hard…etc, I try to think about everything as a way to learn about who I am and what I truly want from this lifetime. In so many instances, my life has made me stronger and has made me appreciate certain things a lot more. Not that I should’ve had to endure what I did but now I feel like I can connect with myself on a deeper level and never allow myself to feel small or limited. This allows me a bit more mental freedom because I know what matters to me now and where to spend my time and what to put my energy into. Which relates to my creative work because everything I do derives from a place of feeling thankful for what these genres or areas of media/art have done for me in a time of struggle and loss. I’m truly grateful because they’ve provided me a source of happiness and security that I haven’t always had the easiest time finding.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I do with my art and creations is incredibly versatile which is one thing I think really sets me apart from others. I have a lot of stories to tell and a lot of visions to create. I’ve done or worked in countless different areas of entertainment or arts. I’ve worked on and learned how to do Special Effects make up for Horror based looks, I am in the process of writing my first novel and have written several short stories, I’m a song writer, I’ve done script writing, filming, editing and production for a few short films and I’ve done some acting in my own projects on youtube and have also been an extra in the TBS show “The Cube” with Dwyane Wade which was filmed in the beautiful city of Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve attended and worked a decent amount of Pop Culture Conventions which is the main place I am able to show off my creations and passions. I think my involvement with cons is what I am most proud of and excited to continue because I’ve been able to meet so many of my heroes and can interact with so many amazing people. Besides the meet and greets, I enjoy cosplaying at these events, my main cosplay is “Bro/Fat Thor” from Avengers Endgame which I really enjoy portraying because it’s helped me a lot with body positivity. I’ve also been blessed with the opportunity to work as a celebrity handler for some of the events I’ve attended which has helped me get involved and understand the industry more. Overall, I take whatever opportunities I can to be slightly involved with entertainment and creative outlets. I started as a volunteer and still volunteer as much as I can so I work up to getting paid positions or an internship. I love knowing a little bit about everything and find so much beauty in each and every aspect of these positions/areas. My main goal is to continue as a handler at conventions or even become an official agent. Being an agent is not a full time job though depending upon agency so I think this would allow me the freedom to work at both cons and possibly in production for a studio or specific projects. Through this whole process I’ve learned location matters, apply for as much as you can, accept “smaller scale” work because it’ll help in the long run, get as educated as possible, make sure your passion for the work is abundant and clear, get into the industry for the right reasons and believe in yourself. A little goes a long way and one person/thing can make a difference.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever I take my friends to Atlanta, I love showing them filming locations from Marvel and The Walking Dead productions. I also absolutely love visiting the Georgia Aquarium. The aquarium is so therapeutic and beautiful. I would probably eat at Murph’s because I was born and raised as a Braves fan and love Dale Murphy – on that note I would also love to catch a Braves game if baseball was in season at the time. If I could travel outside of Atlanta for the trip, I would make my way to Senoia, Georgia. I love that town so much and think it’s so gorgeous. Nic and Norman’s which is located in Senoia also has amazing food, as do the smaller mom and pop shops on main street. I just love the vibe in Senoia. It feels like home and I enjoy sharing that feeling with others. It has a very special place in my heart.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would really like to dedicate my shoutout to my good friend Ross Marquand. Ross is a super talented actor and impressionist, he is most known for his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Walking Dead. Ross and I have been friends since 2017 and ever since then, he has encouraged me to follow my dreams and he has been so unbelievably supportive. I don’t know where I’d be without him. He has a way of making me feel so loved and so safe which helps me keep going. When I feel like no one believes in me or cares about my passions, I know he does. He makes efforts to ask about them and takes genuine interest in everything I tell him. His words and support help me believe in myself as well. Ross also has a very motivational story about his own success in the entertainment industry. It wasn’t easy for him either but he pushed through and he made it. I couldn’t have a better person to look up to and I owe a lot of my journey to my relationship with him.
