We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I view risk is by looking at how life might pan out if I don’t take the risk versus and if I do take it. Since becoming a full time entrepreneur I’ve taken some pretty big risk and weighed the pros and cons of each opportunity. If the reward is greater than the risk than I’m going to go for it. Risk taking has played a tremendous role in my personal life/ and in my career. I moved to a new state shortly after graduating college without having a secure job in place, which was extremely risky. I felt led to leave what was familiar for what I knew would be my new home, and it’s worked out really well for me.
Even after moving here I continued to pursue the next venture and started a sports apparel business I eventually sold. The proceeds from that sale were the seeds I used to start in real estate.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a licensed real estate agent. My job is help people who are looking to buy or sell a home throughout the home buying process.
For many, buying a home might be the biggest purchase of their lives and I’ll never take for granted the privilege I have to walkthrough this sometimes uneasy process with them. I make sure to offer the most sound advice using my expertise to guide my clients throughout the transaction. My clients trust and know that I’ll never put a paycheck over doing what’s right. I’ve walked away from many deals when I knew it wasn’t in my client’s best interest.
I’ve learned many lessons along the way, one being, in business, there’s no such thing as an “easy business.”There is never going to be a business that’s easy. I think many people come into this business with expectations of quick success but that’s just not reality. This work requires dedication and commitment even when things are going well.
There seems to be a false narrative around entrepreneurship that you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. But that’s not entirely true. I had to create a schedule for myself as if I was still working a full time job. It took me an entire year of being a realtor before I got my first sale.
Another lesson I’ve picked up along the way is learning from people who also experienced adversity and were better from it. I believe there’s power when people share their stories as it creates vulnerability and ignites hope that they can achieve success too. I try to share my story as well in hopes that it too might encourage someone in their journey.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit the city I would take them to the roof top area like Ponce City Market to hang out and enjoy the views of the city. I would also take them to experience a Braves game and then hangout at The Battery afterwards. One restaurant that I would take them to is B and L wings in west Midtown, because I believe they have the best wings in Atlanta. I would follow that up by taking them to Sammy’s Cheesecake who has the best red velvet cake.
A few other fun things to do in Atlanta is riding scooters throughout city and on the Beltline, looking at all the beautiful murals. I also enjoy concerts at City Winery Another activity that I enjoy is going to see a concert at City Winery.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many people that have helped me along my journey in life so it’s too many to name them all. So I’ll try to keep the list short. I have to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ, my mom, all of my grandparents, my wife, coaches, and everyone else that has looked out for me, given me advice, or supported me from a distance
