We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance is constantly changing working in the music industry, Its up at times and its down at times. There has been a point where I have working long hours throughout the day and get drained to a point where things I need to work on mentally or on a personal level that gets neglected. In times where work is frequent it tends to cause anxiety as an engineer because I find myself constantly on edge waiting for the next opportunity to work. Sometimes these calls come at the right time and sometimes I may be relaxing, enjoying company, out and about or working on something for myself. Missing opportunities hurts in more ways then one; not only are missing out on income for that day but you can potentially lose a client if you’re not consistently available. I have decided whether me missing an opportunity outweighs what I need to work on personally or how will it would effect me financially. On the other hand, being an entrepreneur has its benefits because I have the power to control when I work or not without the risks of losing a job permanently and also allows me to be dedicated to what ever I have planned in the future such as: events, vacations, work trips, etc. In the field I work in I had to except the fact that having a consistent schedule is nearly impossible because of the randomness of work that comes my way. Fortunately, majority of music creators tend to work anytime after 2pm, which allows me to get a lot of work done in the morning and enjoy whatever down time I may have. Work life balance is important in order to sustain a long career. It ensures optimal performance when it is time to work. I enjoy working most of the time so its easier for work to tip the balance scale. I also enjoy taking breaks and time for myself, but without work that is not completely possible. I think of work life balance as something that is constantly changing and it is necessary to reflect on and make adjustments where needed. It is very important as an entrepreneur, someone in the working class and students alike!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is different from others because I enjoy drawing ideas from reality. What I do as an artist if feel is a more down to earth approach to music. I like to be relatable when it come to making music and even if not relatable to all I like to give realistic lyrics so the audience can get an understanding as me as a person and artist. As of now I’m most proud of the growth and how far I came along since I started releasing content. Alot of things I like to do and capable of doing on my own when it come to the process or creating and marketing music, recently I started work with more creative directors and it makes for a less stressful better outcome. I learned its not all about the music but how the music is presented for the audience to digest. I learned to be more intent with content. I would like the world to know that I’m going to keep delivering the best product I can and Just like my name ( Rollin Ajay) im’a keep rollin’!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a simple person but I do enjoy visiting different restaurants and lounges. If my best friend was visiting the area we would definitely have to eat good. So Im going to hit college park for brunch. There’s a couple different brunch spots there, most recently, I went to Nouveau bar and grill and had some Fish and grits that was bussin. Hopefully they’ re visiting during football season and we get to catch a game, college or professional. We may take stroll through the park or walk around the city and find a place to eat. Cruising the city is a good past time in the day time the scenery is nice and night time the city lights are nice. Piedmont park, centennial park, Edgewood, botanical gardens or the aquarium, east Atlanta village had a lot of spots I like. It so many options but I would ensure they enjoyed there self while visiting. Then relax at the crib, watch a movie or listen to music when were done adventuring.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to Shout out Stephen Clements. Steve a.k.a. Lil Artshow b.k.a. Troy Davis is a Graphic Designer, Producer, Owner, and Creative director among many other great things. Troy has excelled in the Graphic Design field by working on designs of many artist big and small including but not limited to Blacc Youngsta, Kay Franklin, Mike n Keys and many more. Not only does he do designs for music artist he is also involved with making custom artwork for events, promotions and artwork that you can take with you and add to the aesthetic to your home or studio. He also created his own brand “Clubclubal” which includes a group of artist, engineers, producers, videographers and directors. He has curated shows around Atlanta and different city’s in Alabama. He does a great job when it comes to connecting people for collaboration. He is very passionate when it comes to working and creating. He inspires me to finish what I start and to put in 100 percent into everything I do. Among the many things Troy Davis has accomplished, including graduating as a mechanical engineer from the illustrious Tuskegee University (The greatest HBCU of course) what stands out to me most is that he is an advocate for black empowerment and more notably self-empowerment.
