We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaliyah McGuire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaliyah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Every job I worked at I was never satisfied or content with management or the work environment. Years ago I started doing hair then I stopped or took a break for a few years due to sudden loss of family members. I decided to work at Amazon in 2017. I been there going on 5 years . During my fourth year that job taught me enough is enough and you are better and smarter than this . I was tired of management, work conditions , and the unfair treatment . I put my focus bsck on doing hair. When the pandemic came it was a ghetto blessing . I was booked every week . In my mind I was like okay since I service so many people especially women let me do something that aligns with my hair business & I came up with pretty girls in style . A online store where you can get a product to enhance your beauty or make you feel confident. From your hair , face , skin , everything ! One stop shop . People always ask me about trying other jobs or relocating but I believe if you believe in yourself & god anything is possible especially when you are a hard worker!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Trying to become a professional hairstylist has definitely been challenging process for years . I started doing hair after I graduated high school . Once I finished hair schoool my brother & grandmother passed away . Changed my life forever and took away a lot of my focus and motivation . I took clients from home but my whole vision became blurry . I come from a chaotic family that didn’t give me a lot of support or encouragement growing up so I always been self motivated. A couple years later I started back doing hair again and then lost my grandfather & a really close friend . I lost focus and motivation again because my friend meant a lot to me and really was encouraging and nice role model as well . I was always left to grief alone or at least try to . You can’t just forget about people who meant a lot to you and played a major part in your life . So I ended up at Amazon . Through out the years I have grew so much as a person. It took 4 years and a pandemic to help me really realize you’re not happy here and ready to elevate and make more money . All I wanted to do was get out of my job & make way more money . When I do hair I don’t feel drained or like it’s really work . During the pandemic I started posting my hairstyles again and by the grace of god I became booked non stop. Now In 2021 I have clientele and I can successfully say I will be okay . That quote “you can do anything you put your mind to” is the truth . I also got closer to god along loved on myself more but dreams really do work when you do ! I learned to pay attention to the people that focus on you , be kind no Matter what , don’t let anyone make you step out of character cause you and your business is worth so much more , AND never stop learning !!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Marc Bell – He’s always been a great friend & support to me . When I felt scared or worry about something going wrong with my business he always been there to speak positivity into me or tell me when I’m overthinking since day 1. When I had a idea or need help being a sole proprietor he helps when he could . Before I even launched he was there and helping me be calm . I’ll always be greatful for him cause he knows me best and my struggle more than anyone!

God – I have built a even stronger and closer relationship with god and I feel like it has benefited me in so many good ways. I always feel like
I’ll be okay cause god literally has given me everything I wanted and make sure I never quit or worry to much ! I feel like we are in this journey and process together but I have been super blessed ❤️

My friends – As soon as I launched my business they all supported and was eager to share . To this day since I launched my genuine friends still help me and support me in every way they can & I appreciate them always .
