We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Janay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was when I got laid off from my job and I started thinking about how can I make money. In August of 2020, the idea of running an online boutique came across my mind and from then Cold Piece Boutique was created. Then, came along my other two businesses which are Heavy Flexin Media & Heavy Flexin Apparel. Heavy Flexin Media is so special to me because when I was a kid I always wanted to be a reporter/interviewer. When I attended Cass Technical High School, I earned the opportunity to interview R&B Singer Mario. At that point, I was thinking like I know I could do this again I just didn’t know when it would happen. On Christmas Day of 2022, Heavy Flexin Media was established. As of April 2023, I have two interviews available to read on my website, please check it out! It’s just feel so surreal from being a kid dreaming about this and now I was able to start my own media company. I know at some point in my career that I will be interviewing more entrepreneurs, celebrities, and athletes. Stay tuned because there’s a lot more you’ll be seeing soon!!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I got to where I’m at today by working hard, keeping the faith, and staying consistent. The journey is not easy, mistakes will be made but you gotta learn from it and keep going. Failure does not define you and that’s something people should know it’s just lesson learned and you’ll know what to do next time. Per my previous article, I am now a Media Personality and in a content partnership with VoyageATL besides being a 5X Published CEO/Fashion Model. Heavy Flexin Media is my newest venture right now. My media company is based on highlighting upcoming businesses/entrepreneurs and trending entertainment/sports. This platform is based on positivity and showcasing talent/creatives. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A place people should check out while visiting Atlanta is Skyline Atlanta. There’s an illuminated Ferris Wheel you can ride and see spectacular views of the city! It’s a great way to enjoy and end your evening. You also can upgrade to VIP treatment. I definitely recommend!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God deserves the shoutout because I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. I believe that of it wasn’t for him all of this wouldn’t have occurred the way it did. I know my own abilities and determination got me where I’m at but all praise to the most high!
