We had the good fortune of connecting with Joel Mckibben and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joel, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
When it comes to business you have to understand it. Understand that business is never steady. It’s filled with ups and downs. Never get discouraged when you’re low. Instead take that time to brainstorm. Come up with new marketing strategies, new ideas and products. I don’t believe in giving up. Especially if you’re passionate about it. I love having a clothing line. Gives me an opportunity to express my creative side through fashion. I have fun!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel like what sets me apart from others is that i don’t do this for money. I truly enjoy seeing my creations come to life. The compliments i get for the designs makes me proud of my work. The growth and journey of my brand has been challenging but enjoyable. The hardest part is staying consistent. I run everything myself but my personal life gets hectic at times with work, family life and personal life. I have to remind myself that i have a brand to run and i can not neglect it. You have to stay consistent! I started my brand honestly to just design clothes for myself. It wasn’t until i start getting compliments about my outfits when i decided to sell. It feels good to make others feel good about what they wear. I take pride in that.


Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to all of my customers, family and friends that support my brand. They are the engine that keeps me running and thriving to become better. I appreciate you all!
