If not giving up was always the right answer life would be so easy. History shows us that sometimes quitters prosper and sometimes they miss out. Knowing when to quit and when to keep going is one of the most difficult questions and so we asked folks we admire to tell us how they think through this question.

I know whether to keep going or give up based on how much I enjoy the work and its impact on peoples lives. The day that I wake up and think “I really don’t want to do this” or “It’s not worth it” is the day I think about shutting it down. As long as I know that the work that I do is not only beneficial for me (emotionally and financially) but it also makes a difference in the lives of my clients, I won’t give up. There are times when it is very challenging but that makes the success a the end of a project even sweeter. Read more>>

I think before you start your business- you need to be realistic and manage your own expectations. The first few weeks, months, and even the first few years may feel like uncharted territory and you have to prepare for that. Here are three reasons why I keep going 1. I know owning my own business is what I want to do- I will only be satisfied in building my dream and carving out a space for myself. In this industry, you’ll work long hours and very long days, and if I’m going to do that- I want to make sure I’m investing and creating a lifelong vision for myself. 2. Always have new goals. I often find myself looking towards the next goal, I’m usually mentally prepared for the next thing before the opportunity arises. Read more>>

We have all at some point thought of giving up, but knowing that we can be the ones to make a difference for our families and how we can impact the lives of others, keeps us pushing forward. Having the support of like minded people provides the motivation to keep moving forward. We are a spiritual organization who believe that what God has placed in us will be manifested. Read more>>

I’m a big, soft nerd, so one of my very favorite quotes is Walt Disney’s “Keep Moving Forward.” I don’t think I believe in “giving up” anymore. I believe that we are always growing and, therefore, choosing to move beyond a place or a person or a situation that once served you is always okay, even if it’s hard or painful at the time. I have always been especially inspired by one of my former co-workers, Gary. Gary worked in pipe organ repairs and then sales and then consulting all before finding himself talking passionately about animals at the aquarium. Whenever I feel backed into a corner or trapped, I think of my friend Gary and remember that life is a multi-chapter story. Choosing to end a particular chapter doesn’t mean you “quit.” (My worst fear.) “Around here, however, we don’t look back for very long… Read more>>

When the urge to keep believing and holding on to hope, no matter the circumstances; or what you perceive as real, is stronger than giving in or giving up, the only option is to keep going…keep believing. It is so easy to let go when it seems like the odds are against you. You never know how close you are to the prize; and the only way you will know is by holding on to faith, not giving up and believing that, with God, ALL things are possible. Read more>>
