“Do not speak bad of yourself. For the warrior within hears your words and is lessened by them.” This is a phrase that I try to live by and practice. Sometimes it’s hard but it’s true. What you tell yourself becomes your reality. If you have a dream/goal, get out there and run after what you believe in with everything you’ve got. You never know if you don’t try. Read more>>

I have many favorites, I love words but Two top favorite quotes and a favorite personal affirmation that have helped me. through my more recent stage of my life. The jump is so frightening between where I am and where I wanna be but because of all I may become I will close my eyes and leap. I saw that quote my junior year in of college while studying abroad in London, England. I loved it so much then and I still do because it reminds me to be brave and curious. To be aware enough to acknowledge my fears and anxiety, but to trust that there’s so much more to experience, enjoy and discover. Read more>>

*querencia* is defined per Wikipedia as a metaphysical concept in the Spanish language and often described as simply a certain place in an arena where a bull will stand to fight. *querencia*, for me however, is an affirmation I discovered when reading Hemingway’s ‘Death in the Afternoon’. The author discusses how a bull uses the fight to actually create a space in his mind where he simultaneously has his back against the wall leaving him vulnerable, but where said space, his *querencia*, also becomes where he is his most powerful, his strongest, where, in his mind, he cannot be killed. Prince Jarbo | Founder & Changemaker

My favorite quote is by JFK: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” I like this quote because it enlightens me on why Project Change was founded and, most notably, my purpose. Project Change exists to eradicate the dependent mentality fostered in the Liberian youth, as many young people spend most of their lives asking what our nation can do for them, while few seek to rebuild our war-torn past. Without a doubt, my favorite quote is FIGHTERS FIGHT which I’ve carried with me throughout my career as a professional dancer and now, certified personal trainer, gym owner and fitness professional. This quote reminds me that no matter how many times I get rejected at auditions/castings or when my business is barely making it month to month that I will continue to push no matter what. I will continue to believe in myself and move forward because that’s what fighters do….they FIGHT! Read more>>

I have quite a few favorite quotes but today I choose one by Audrey Lorde, and it says, “if I didn’t define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies of me and eaten alive.” This quote means and speaks so much to me because I remember as a teenager I lived for other people’s opinions of me. I lived for the validation of people. What they thought about me or how they saw me. As a young girl, I thought dressing like and acting like someone else would make people recognize me. I thought it was normal to allow someone else to tell me who I was or was not. Read more>>
