I see risk as a necessary part of growth. To me, risk isn’t about being reckless—it’s about stepping outside of my comfort zone and trusting that the work I put in will pay off. Every major opportunity in my life has come from taking a risk, whether it was choosing to leave a stable job to pursue real estate full-time or putting myself out there to build a brand in a competitive market. Taking risks has played a huge role in my life. As a kid, risk looked like climbing to a higher branch on a tree or attempting new tricks on my bike and collecting new scars on my knees. As an adult, risk now looks like traveling overseas for new experiences or hiking the steeper trail for breathtaking views. Risk is something that I often do and I don’t play by the rules. There were so many risks I’ve taken to the fact I’ve lost count. My biggest one was leaving my dream career job behind. It was either find another career while being in negative from my bank account or be stuck in the house job searching with a bunch of interviews just to get turned down and never get the accept til year or two from now. A personal philiosphy of mine is that high risk equals high reward. I incorporate risk into my career and art in multiple ways. Every time I post I am conquering the fear of being percieved. I’m gambling that the audience will connect with the depper parts of myself that I express through music. Lets just say; every time I’ve ever bet on myself I’ve won. Taking risks is the essential factor of life. Without risk, there is no reward. Betting on yourself and your ideas can be really intimidating, but you have to believe in yourself, and trust in yourself and your ideas. If you’re authentically yourself, and show up that way, you will find your audience and find your success. I’ve been thinking about the risks I’ve taken over my 76 years, and I have to say, it’s both powerful and inspiring to reflect on these experiences! I’ve always embraced risk, stepping out of my comfort zone more times than I can count. Taking risks is scary but crucial to obtaining the greatest opportunities and taking advantage of them! For myself, I had to consider the risks that came with this pathway because I was a student in college at the time of joining the Queen Tea leadership team and the opportunities to learn new skills and make important life decisions have only tripled since!
