Meet AJ Booker | Business Development Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with AJ Booker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi AJ, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is probably one of the most important things when it comes to business. Everyone knows the saying “with no risk there is no reward” and I feel like that’s a very true statement. But i wouldn’t just take that statement and run with it. The only risk I am willing to take are calculated risks. When you take risks without doing the proper research is when you usually get burned. I know this from experience. I’ve taken risks in business that didn’t all turn out the way i wanted them to because i was too eager. But now everything is well researched, thought out, and planned with steps to execute..

What should our readers know about your business?
STUSA started in Warner Robins Ga as a group name for me and my friends in high school. As we all grew up and went to our separate colleges to further our education and pursue our love for sports, we made sure to keep the group name alive. So while I pursued my degree at Valdosta State, my brother and best friend AD began to resell shoes. As he began to gain traction as a reseller, he named the resell business StusaKicks. What started as a small investment in my brothers resell dream has now blossomed to a fully staffed and operating Consignment shop that specializes in new and used shoes, clothes, and electronics. And we are currently launching our own in house apparel brand… With our family-oriented structure, we strive to not only set ourselves apart with our philanthropic services but our vested involvement in the sports and entertainment realms as well. No it has not been easy and everyday we encounter new challenges , some self inflicted and some not but i’ve learned with a strong team we can get through any thing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start with a dinner from this restaurant called Props. I believe whole heartedly they sell the best steak there. Then i would check out this lounge called Niche. We just recently hosted a Tank Davis vs Ryan Garcia fight party there and it was great vibes with good food and drinks. We look forward to working with them more in the future so I would def stop by there.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would have to shoutout Aaron Davis and Trey Payne. No we aren’t blood brothers but we might as well be. I’ve grown so much in life and business working with these men. Who knew high school friends and teammates would grow up to not only be business partners but to mentor and guide each other in this thing we call life. Your only as good as your team and the ones you surround yourself with. We are all different and bring different attributes to the table but when you can bounce ideas off each other to reach a common goal it’s a beautiful thing.
