We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Drinkard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jen, what principle do you value most?
Surrender matters most. I cannot make anything happen when I’m out of alignment with what is coming in for me. The only way I can align with what’s flowing through my life, what’s leaving, what’s wanting to grow, what’s wanting to shed, and what’s wanting to come in and bless me with abundance is by surrendering to exactly whatever it is that is happening in the now.

This is what life asks of us, to surrender to it in every moment. To stop fighting, to stop being the boulder in the river shouting “STOP” as the water does what it naturally does, as it flows and wonders with curiosity about us and our need to change the natural flow of our very existence. The more we fight, the less time we have to wonder, to grow, to receive, to love, to change, to experience.

I value surrender and the gentleness and kindness and being it brings. And this is what I ask of my clients when they come to see me. To surrender and let go and see what happens then!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an energy worker, healer and guide. I use multi-modalities with my clients to help them reconnect with their soul/body/mind connection. Some of my offerings include Spiritual Guidance, Hypnotherapy, Past-Life Hypnosis via Quantum Healing, Beyond Quantum Healing Hypnosis, Death Guidance/Ritual, Reiki, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Shamanic Drumming/Shamanic Healing/Ritual, Tobacco Ceremony, and Ceremony Creation. I also hold MA and BA degrees in Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology.

Where I am today is a combination of many, many years of ethical and hard work, research, and study, as well as a deep commitment to personal shadow work, shadow work of the collective, and shadow work of the relationships between all of us. I’ve been through so much: from poverty to multiple deaths; my best friend, my father, then my husband. I’ve learned to be in relation to spirit through all of this, and what sets me apart from others is the combination of deep hard personal work, unwavering belief in spirit and the possibilities that exist beyond the medical models of healing, and a large cumulation of knowledge available to each client. This combines to form the opposite of spiritual bypass, making me a present, ethical, and capable guide/healer/teacher.

I’ve combined all of this into multiple modalities/offerings so that I can meet my clients where they are in their lives with deep understanding, empathy and guidance.

It was not easy at all to get to this place of trusting myself enough to share my work with the world. Sometimes trusting yourself is hard because it means you have to take responsibility for your own life. That’s no easy task, anyone who says it is is selling you snake oil. But the rewards are intensely worth it. Ownership of your life and surrender to what it is wanting to be is the greatest gift you could ever work for.

I’ve learned to be gentle. To be kind with myself and the world. To trust that even when I’m suffering, it’s because I’m growing, because I’m learning to be a better version of myself that’s more aligned with my mind/body/heart/soul health. To trust that everything that happens happens because it’s working in my best good, even the terrible, horrible things that occur. I’ve learned that there are two ways of being: fighting and suffering more, or surrendering and suffering less. I’ve learned to celebrate my victories; the times that I remember to love myself through it all. I’ve learned that no matter what, change comes, and all things are temporary. And once you surrender the fear of that, you are granted the gifts that all natural things know…that every season is to be appreciated and loved and LIVED.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The thing I love most about this area is the outdoor spaces. My absolute favorite place near Atlanta is Sweetwater Creek State Park. I had a whole past-life experience the first time I visited there! It’s extremely sacred land and I’m so glad it’s tended to with so much love. Other favorite places are the Botanical Gardens, secret rooftop pools (shhhh), the High Museum, Cabbagetown, Amelie’s Cafe. Anywhere we can walk around the beltline a little always makes me happy! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people in Atlanta have guided me along the way. Some notables include Desiree Stephens (Oracle and Coach), Leah Tioxin (Priestess), Shasta Zaring (Priestess and Tender of The Goddess Garden), Phil Foster (Therapist and Shaman), David Jordan (Therapist and Shamanic Mentor), Corrie Roberson (Sound Healer), Dr Becky Beaton (Hypnotherapist/Psychologist).

In addition to the Atlanta area, my teachers have been Dolores Cannon (Past-Life Guide and Author), Multiple professors at UWG where I completed my MA in Psychology, my writing professors at UNO where I finished my BA in Psychology and Creative Writing, my best friends (Michelle Leyden, Shaina Washington, and Emily Delorge), my current partner, Ron Miller (martial arts extraordinaire), always, always my son Sam, and family here and along the Gulf Coast and Louisiana, where I grew up and was shaped by a long lineage of Acadian Settlers and Caribbean Mystics. They’ve all made me who I am today.
