We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
The biggest risk I have made starting my business was betting on myself. After graduating from college my mind-frame at the time was to get a job and work for a video agency. After succeeding and gaining experience in the field my views on the workforce started to change along with my leadership mindset. Once I got my first loan and purchased my first camera, I knew it was no turning back. After that very day I have never looked back and kept pushing forward building my brand. Personally, I feel risks are necessary to take if you plan on succeeding in anything you are passionate about. I would tell anyone to go after whatever your heart desires because the biggest failure is to have never tried at all.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One side of my business consist of filming marketing videos and photography for local businesses throughout the Georgia area. We create each video to fit the client’s goals and mission statement behind their business. In the world of social media video is one of the most powerful tools to market your business. As my business continues to grow, we are moving forward to creating original content written and produced by myself. The journey hasn’t been easy but I dedicate my success to being patient and staying consistent. I have learned throughout the process to enjoy the moments even when times are super busy or really slow. I used that energy to study my craft, write, and sometimes take a break from the hustle. I would tell someone laying the foundation is the hardest part of building your name, but every step was needed to get to where I am today.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I love Atlanta! I guess I will give you some of my best-kept secrets in the city. Monday would consist of a history lesson going to the Martin Luther King Center, National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Apex Museum, and we would probably wrap the day up by eating at Poor Calvin’s restaurant. Tuesday, I will take my friend down memory lane where I use to hang out during my college days. I would take them by Clark Atlanta University and share fun stories where I use to hang out. In the middle of the conversation keep explaining how in the next lifetime I will attend an HBCU. While we are down that way for lunch, we have to grab some JJ’s fish. After eating lunch, we will head northbound to visit my school The Art Institute of Atlanta to see my old stomping ground. While we are up that way, I will show them my first apartment on Peachtree Dunwoody. Since it is Taco Tuesday, we will grab some food at Huey’s on Roswell road. Wednesday will consist of being active so our day will start by climbing Stone Mountain. Afterward, grab some food at Rosie’s Cafe. Then we will rent bikes downtown and visit the local parks such as Centennial Olympic Park. Afterward, grab some food at Bon Ton Atlanta. Thursday, I will take my friend to see my barber Sean at Furious Styles and get a fresh cut. Afterward, go get some brunch at Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours. If my friend is open to new suggestions, I will take him to a gentlemen’s club. Then go back and rest up for an eventful weekend. Friday, we will grab some food at Another Broken Egg. Afterward, visit the High Museum of Art for the latest attraction. Lastly, grab some food and drinks at Negril Village for their Rum Punch Fridays. If we are up for it go listen to some music and smoke at CRU Lounge. Saturday morning will probably consist of the recovery from the night before. On Saturday, we might go play some games at Main Event and head over to BQE Lounge for some live music. Finally, you can’t leave Atlanta without participating in a Sunday brunch event. Sunday morning take my friend to Ms. Icey’s Kitchen and Bar for the final turn up.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to all the people who have supported me throughout this journey. Shout out to everyone who gave me the opportunity to capture their vision and show me their upmost professionalism regarding time, payment arrangement, and etc. Thank you to all my friends and family who give me encouraging words and holds me accountable for personal goals. Outside of my career I value and appreciate all the life experiences and memories I made throughout the years. I couldn’t have become the writer I am today without you all. The most important person of them all would be my mother, Dorothy Rice. The words can’t express the impact you have on my life and me becoming the man I am today.
