We had the good fortune of connecting with Likisha “Kiche” Griffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Likisha “Kiche”, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Yes, my mantra and call-to-action is “Remix. Rebuild.” Communities and generations have an opportunity to progress experiences. To remix is to consider the past. To rebuild is to be in the now. During this time of shift, I believe that the creativity of inter-generations will cultivate what is to come.

What should our readers know about your business?
L. Griffin Creative is a multi-media production studio grounded in content that honors oral tradition and stories passed along from real experiences, specifically representing culture-rich community histories. My career began as a creative-support professional. When client work became less consistent as a result of COVID-19, I launched an artisan line practicing my design concepts. I was pleased that my 2020 homeware lines and “These Hands Crochet” products were heavily supported by my network.I made limited edition mugs, apparel, pillows, masks, crystal carriers, journals and headbands mostly as a therapy practice and solution for extra income. The experimentation has proved to be a good survey on how to expand as a cultural producer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

As a wellness advocate, I would take friends over to Your Vitamin Herb Shop on historic Auburn Avenue. Shana Byrd, Nutritional Food Therapist, has been serving the Atlanta community for several years. With her husband Torrey, they launched the first “eat for your blood type” carry-out kitchen in 2020. The service offers a neutral menu for meat-eaters, vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-free eaters. Chadwick Boseman is documented onsite during the time he was shooting “Black Panther”. (We now know he was battling colon cancer)

I would also take friends over to the Movement Lab ATL, Home of T. Lang. She is doing awesome community programming rooted in culture and AR/VR experiences.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My extensive work as a Cultural Producer in the arts includes working with award-winning fine-art photographer and visual producer Sheila Pree Bright on the #1960Now Street Art tour and campaigns. L. Griffin Creative Studio has also supported several art industry clients. Shout out to September Gray Fine Art Gallery (ATL), Bobby Huntley Films (ATL), “Protect Yo Heart” Campaign (NYC), The Movement Lab Home of T. Lang (ATL) and Clark Atlanta University Art Museum (ATL).
