We had the good fortune of connecting with Nakisha Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nakisha, what matters most to you?
The value that matters the most to me is integrity. It is important that my clients trust me and trust that I am representing their best interests. I have been taught, that it is not about what you do when people are looking, but what you do when they are not.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Skribble inc is a Grant Writing and Non-Profit Development Company. What sets us apart from others is, what I do is not income driven, but it is to help and educate those who are invested in helping others. I am most proud that I have the opportunity on a daily basis to meet with and assist, some awesome individuals who are changing the narrative of their communities. I am grateful that I was able to take important information and lessons from Corporate America, to use in my own business, It hasn’t always been easy, especially initially when you are transitioning from the security of the income that comes from working for someone else, to attempting to secure that same income working for yourself. Two of the most important lessons that I have learned have been, never to confuse what you are offered versus what you are worth, and things rarely go according to plan, so be ok with it. I want the world to know that I set out to help others change the world, and succeeded.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my friend was visiting, it would be all about the food. My friends and I love food and drinks. My favorite places would be (in no particular order): 1. South City Kitchen (Midtown) 2. Ms. Iceys Kitchen (Decatur) 3. Nuevo Laredo (Upper West Side Provisions) 4. Slim and Husky’s (Midtown) And we would repeat!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe my success to my parents Phyllis and Jarden Eckles, for always supporting me, no matter where the road traveled. My significant other Sean Rush, for giving me the push towards entrepreneurship. The book: “Pretty Powerful” by Eboni K Williams, which is about not compromising yourself personally, to become you wish to be professionally.
