We had the good fortune of connecting with B. Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi B., how has your background shaped the person you are today?
My story began in Quitman, Ga., a small town in south Georgia, a town that nearly borders the GA/FL line. My story is one of love, abandonment, and life lessons. I like to believe that my upbringing played a major part in who I am today. Much of what I know concerning love, faith, consistency, family, consequence, hurt, betrayal, denial, perspective, and perseverance came from my bittersweet upbringing. After the age of nine, it was only me and my maternal grandmother Erma. It was at this age that my mother was murdered and my father’s inconsistency, would become him leaving for good. I grew up as normal as one could have dealt with all I dealt with in my youth. And I experienced a great deal. Much of which I either kept a secret or buried to not have to deal with. Regardless, I pushed through. My grandmother did all she could to make sure I grew into the man I was supposed to. I have used that adversity to not only guide my decisions, but to create opportunities for other young men to not have to face what I did. It’s become my life’s work.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It all began with a “mission”. 2015 and 2016 were two of the toughest years of my life. I found that everything I hadn’t dealt with from my childhood was now coming full circle and it was slowing destroying my life. In 2017, I began the process of changing my life spiritually, physically, and most importantly, mentally. I decided that training my mind would be just the catalyst I’d need for a complete lifestyle change. In August of 2018, I released my first book, “Drop the Weight”: A Guide to Improving Mental Fitness in Order to Recognize and Achieve Your Goals. A book aimed at helping people realize their true potential by simply changing the way they think and letting go of anything that is a hindrance to accomplishing their goals.
In 2020, I launched my organization, Mission M.A.N.H.O.O.D., LLC., An organization aimed at promoting educational standards, inspiring the uninspired, and instilling young men with the necessary tools needed to thrive in today’s society.
I desired to create an organization that would meet the needs of young men who had faced much of what I had.
To say it was easy would be an understatement. It took many long nights, a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, days I wanted to give, and time I wasn’t used to giving up. But my “mission” outweighed the fatigue, the tears, the blood, and the doubt.
My heart for service is huge and when people see my business, I want them to know it’s all serving others, not about serving myself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Where do I begin?! LOL! My out of town friends always hit me up for suggestions when they visit. So, I have plenty of suggestions! So, Ill start with food. One of favorite seafood digs to hit up is “Bon Ton ATL”. It’s Louisiana meets Vietnamese flair…lol. Every time I walk into that place, I feel like I took a trip to the 70’s. It’s super eclectic, but the food and drinks are amazing! It’s right next to Mary Mac’s Tea Room, which is an Atlanta staple so you definitely have to go fill your belly with some good food there. Papi’s also has amazing Cuban delights. For atmosphere and good brunch, “The Real Milk and Honey”. I dare you to find something bad on their menu. You have to try the Ghetto Burger at Ann’s Shack on Kirkwood. It’s only right. Busy Bee’s and The Beautiful. Need I say more? If you’re near Jonesboro and want to eat good and fall immediately asleep, Ray’s Southern Foods is your place. Good food and the ITIS. Edgewood Pizza is among the best pizza you can get in the city. Also, definitely try Antico or Slim and Husky’s. Slutty vegan is good, if you can wait in that line…lol. Dos Amigos is a dope Mexican spot with good food and drinks. If you’re cigar connoisseur try Burn by Rocky Patel in The Battery. One of my favorite spots and definitely try the Lobster Mac. It’s a secret item but it’s so good. I can go on forever but you probably want other spots…lol. So, you have to go to Piedmont Park and The Beltline. Old fourth Ward park is cool as well as Skyline Park. Skyline gives you that grown folks carnival feel plus you get a dope view of the skyline. Wanna party? You got a laundry list of spots but a few of my faves Monticello’s, Medusa, Suite, Sivahs, and for live music St. James Live and Whiskey Mistress.
Look, I’d need a day or two fill you in because I have so much I can say. Just know I know my city…lol. My friends would leave satisfied.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d first like to dedicate my success to God. Without Him, I wouldn’t know what love is. Secondly, my grandmother, because without her, I wouldn’t know how to love. Lastly, my father, because without him, I wouldn’t know what love isn’t.
