We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Casey, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Presentation is everything. You will never get a second change to make a first impression. Society is built on “appearances” and what things “look like”. This is why large companies spend so much money on advertisements to entice people to spend. My rule for success has been very simple. I call it the 3 P’s. Presentation, Performance, and Paperwork. Initially , a random viewer has no real information to base their first impression by. It’s all driven from what the product “presented”, and how that made the viewer “feel”. The better the presentation or packaging, the better the chance to monetize. Honestly, a person could have a horrible product… as long as the presentation is good, the potential for a sale is evident. Nowadays, social media has made it so easy to monetize any product or service. However, people rarely take a good hard look at their brands and scrutinize it from the inside, out. Ask yourself, if I were looking at this ad, would it compel me to purchase? If the answer is no, go back to the drawing board!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
First and foremost, I am a BLACK, WOMAN, Federal Contractor….. I bet you’ve never even heard of that, right! There are literally only approximately 300k Woman Owned Companies World Wide……what percentage of them do you think are black? Secondly, I am a Trucking Company Owner……. again, a male dominated field, where the average owner is not a Woman, or black. I started my company 16 years ago. I had no clue i would take it this far! I literally kept failing forward. The key was, even though I was failing, I never kept learning and trying. Endurance is the key. The worse player on the field, eventually will catch a ball. Its all about time and timing!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I recently made Miami my second home. Anytime friends or relatives visit I always rent a yacht and take them to the nicest restaurants in Miami! There are so many to choose from. My favorite is caked”The Deck at Island Grille”…. aside form eating, yachting on the scenic views of Miami is unmatched. Consider the weekend complete after a 6 hour, catered, fun filled cruise on a 86 foot yacht. What else is there to do!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
