We had the good fortune of connecting with Ginger Windham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ginger, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Gemini Flyii because Of my love for jewelry. I’ve always loved wearing jewelry since childhood. Handmade jewelry has always had my heart because of the personal touch and love that goes into creating it. I wanted to have that same connection when it came to making jewelry and someone knowing that I made it especially for them.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I’m creating jewelry, I like to infuse so many elements. I definitely include concepts of my culture which is African American. Music, fashion, food are all encompassing of inspiration for every piece that I make and curate. My love for color and shapes are also in every design. I’m most proud of my Flyii Girls! I loving calling my tribe this endearing name because they are more than supporters. They are investing in a unique and meaningful jewelry collection that’s both one of a kind and flavorful. Being fearless and consistent is what got me to where I am today! Trusting and believing that my concepts of jewelry design are meaningful and add to the personal style and confidence of my patrons. Building my brand hasn’t been easy but worth it in every way. I had to learn so much about marketing, building a brand and the behind the scenes business side. I have a sense of pride for going after my dreams with little to no help. You must first believe in yourself and your capabilities to be able to start. After you begin to put your products out you have to believe that your tribe is out there and awaiting what you have to offer. I’m very grateful to have a jewelry brand that resonates with many women who find value in their style and for handmade goods. I want it to be known that it’s never too late to get your dreams out into the world. You have to believe in your vision more than anything. Be resilient to change and no when to pivot when need be. Also, growth comes when you learn that help is necessary. So many single named brands have string teams behind them. You will only be as successful as your team is.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my friend to downtown San Antonio, Texas. We would checkout the Riverwalk which is full of shops, restaurants, bars and of course the river flowing in the center is the main attraction. Next, on a nice day we would check out the historical Alamo and brush up on some good old Texas History. I’m sure we will need to eat , so my next destination would be The Green for some delicious vegan bites and we can’t forget the best truck stop ever Bucee’s for some old fashioned snacks and souvenirs.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My loving and supportive husband Jermaine Windham, my kids Zoey and Roman who allow mommy to create freely. My mom and my brother who both have witnessed me in my youth explore creativity through music, dance and so many other artistic ways. I want to dedicate this shoutout to Pamela Grant! We are both designers and have connected through a mutual interest of creating the things we love to see for our tribe of supporters! Thank you for being an amazing support system!
