We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Toole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
During my senior year of high school, I sustained a pretty severe concussion that lasted for 8 months. In that time, it was hard for me to imagine life without the constant pain that I faced every day. I wondered if I would ever have a normal life again. Luckily, I did make a full recovery and from that point forward I truly understood that there is no time like the present and what we do with our lives in the present moment that we are in. On any day and at any moment our lives can completely change within a blink of an eye as mine had. From then, I decided that for every dream or idea that was placed within me, I wouldn’t wait to make it into a reality. The biggest risk that we can take in our lives is in doing nothing and allowing for life to happen to us instead. It is true that your business or idea could fail, but the lessons learned along the way, the people met, and hurdles tackled are worth it. I have made the conscious decision to create the life that I want and believe myself to have and that comes at a risk. Deep down, I know that no matter how hard or how long, I am going to see my dreams come to fruition. These are the risks worth taking in my opinion.
What should our readers know about your business?
Conserve is a mobile app that interactively educates users on how to recycle! My team and I developed the idea after we both realized how broken the recycling system currently has become in America. We wanted to create a solution that would improve the recycling processes in our communities. I am most excited about the release of our app for a beta test. Our team has been working to release the app for some time now and we are finally there! The road definitely has not been easy. I have been tested and challenged in every way that you could imagine, but I refuse to give up. I would like the world to know that I tried making a positive impact. My brand has been a reflection of myself and my co-founder, Ishir Vasavada. We believe in a world that has cleaner recycling infrastructure and even more so a world that cares about how waste is disposed of. We are working to do just that.If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to the heart of downtown Atlanta! My most favorite spot in Atlanta prior to COVID-19 was the Centennial Olympic Park. I would take them to Daves Cheesesteaks and then SubZero for icecream. Those have been my favorite places of all time in Atlanta.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Georgia State’s University’s LaunchGSU and Entrepreneurship Institute (ENI) have been pivotal in my entrepreneurial journey! If it were not for LaunchGSU, I would have not met all of the many incredible entrepreneurs on Georgia State’s campus and if it were not for ENI, my company would not have received its first grant. They have helped me develop and maintain the courage to continue building and developing my business while also giving me the resources to do so.
