We had the good fortune of connecting with Heidi Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heidi, making friends as an adult isn’t easy. Any advice or experiences you can share?
Friendships and your chosen family – these are the chosen relationships that form the core of what truly matters in life. In adulthood I have leaned into friendships that continue to bolster my community, support my endeavors, cheerlead my victories, and caution me when needed. Across a wide variety of ages, career choices, family dynamics, and backgrounds, the shared love and respect I have found in these friendships truly makes life a wonderful, meaningful experience.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Graduated college with a BFA in drawing. Always been happy to stare into spaces and think deeply. Photography always came naturally to me, and for that reason I completely dismissed it as a potential career. I thought that what you “did” in life needed to be a struggle. Thankfully, photography was always there with me along the way, and when it morphed into a full time position it happed on it’s own, I had no plan, no agenda, nothing to prove. It was just there. There it started. My business sense is something that was always there too. Just a naturally engrained way my brain makes sense of things. I couldn’t have planned this, couldn’t of asked. Of course I have had to ask hard questions, settle into really doing this with an intention for longevity. Lot of lessons learned, lots of fun too.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
So many choices for any sort of activity! However, I do love a balance of going out to a “must” place for eats or drinks, going to a hole in the wall, and cooking at home. I love to soak up all the time I can with friends for connecting conversation and heart to hearts. I feel I’m at my best when I’m at home.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to recognize the following women who have been examples to me not only for their amazing business practices, but also for the depth in which they care for themselves and their families:
