Meet Bright Badzi | Scholarship Beneficiary of Sara Allegra’s SSEP Initiative.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bright Badzi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bright, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe risk is part of growth. Sometimes in life, you have to step out of your comfort zone and take chances, even when the future is uncertain. For me, many important moments in my life came from taking risks.
One example was leaving private school and deciding to continue at a public school despite the challenges I was facing at the time.
Another was applying for the scholarship opportunity through the Sub Saharan Education Project. I didn’t know what the outcome would be, but I took the chance, and it ended up changing my life completely.
I’ve also learned that risk is not always about money or business. Sometimes it’s about believing in yourself, trying again after setbacks, and refusing to give up even when things are difficult.
Looking back, some of the biggest breakthroughs in my life came from moments where I decided to take a chance on myself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Currently, I work with Consolidated Bank Ghana Ltd (CBG) as a Field Teller. My career has been built on discipline, consistency, and a strong desire to grow within the banking sector.
I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, graduating with a Second Class Upper Division (FGPA: 3.45). After completing my studies, I transitioned into the banking industry, where I currently serve as a Field Teller.
In my role, I am responsible for assisting customers with transactions, ensuring accurate financial processing, and supporting smooth banking operations in the field. It requires attention to detail, integrity, and strong customer service skills, especially when working directly with clients.
What sets me apart is the resilience and work ethic I bring to my job. My journey to this point has taught me discipline, patience, and the importance of taking every opportunity seriously. It was not an easy path, but each challenge helped shape my professional mindset and prepared me for the responsibilities I handle today.
Looking ahead, it is my desire to pursue a Master’s degree in Business Analytics, which I hope to apply within the banking sector to improve decision-making, data-driven financial services, and operational efficiency. I also aspire to become a licensed social worker, as I am passionate about supporting individuals and communities, especially in areas such as financial literacy, welfare support, and social development.
What I want people to know about my story is that success is built through consistency and determination. No matter where you start, with the right attitude and commitment, you can build a meaningful career and continue to grow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a close friend was visiting Accra, I would want them to have a mix of relaxation, sightseeing, and a real feel of the city’s lifestyle.
One of my favorite places is the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. I like it because of its calm beach environment, beautiful views, and relaxing atmosphere. It’s a great place to unwind, enjoy good food, and experience the coastal side of Accra.
I would also take them to the Accra International Conference Centre. It’s one of the key event and gathering places in the city, and it represents the modern and professional side of Accra where major conferences, programs, and national events are held.
A typical week would include relaxing at La Palm by the beach, exploring different parts of the city, trying local Ghanaian food, and spending time around the Accra International Conference Centre area to experience the city’s business and cultural atmosphere.
Overall, my goal would be to give them a simple but memorable experience that reflects both the relaxation and the vibrant energy of Accra.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, absolutely. I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the Sub Saharan Education Project (SSEP), founded by Sara Allegra (A Social Worker from Atlanta, Georgia State) and her supportive team. Their intervention came at a very crucial point in my life when I was struggling to continue my education due to financial challenges.
Through their scholarship support, I was able to continue from Junior High School through Senior High School without the constant pressure of fees, transportation, and learning materials. That support gave me the chance to focus on my education and build confidence in myself.
I am truly grateful to Sara Allegra and the entire SSEP team for believing in students like me and giving us the opportunity to change our stories.
I also want to acknowledge my family, especially my mother, my sister and my Uncle (Simon Badzi), who did their best under very difficult circumstances.
Their support and sacrifices played a major role in shaping who I am today
