Meet Yvon Roland | Owner & Founder of Live in Joy LLC (LPC & Self-Compassion Advocate)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yvon Roland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yvon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Over the years, even prior to becoming a licensed therapist, I have had the mindset of becoming an entrepreneur but could not pin down an idea that would hold my attention. I would dive into different ideas solo and with friends, but the ventures never landed. From community specific projects around paying it forward to co-owning a full wellness spa. Even currently, I have a small custom pillow business (<i>Pillowy Thoughts)</i> that’s on hiatus that allows customers to customize a pillow design and I create it from start to finish including sewing the pillowcase using fabric of the customer’s choice. And in each pillow, the customer gets to choose an essential oil scent to be inserted inside the pillow. I truly enjoy crafting and working with my hands so the pillows will always be around even if the business is only for friends and family.
Through each endeavor, there was a clear vision that I love supporting my community around mental wellness, creativity and exploring positive self thought. Live in Joy LLC was originally established to only be the umbrella for the work I do as a therapist. As I’ve navigated the profession and my own journey, I’ve realized that I wanted to reach the community beyond my therapy office. I wanted to share not only my clinical expertise, but also my life learnings and creativity. I chose Live in Joy for a reason and eventually realized it was more than just a name. It’s A Mantra. A Mindset. A Movement. With that in mind, I have started to spread my reach with products, workshops and events that are specific to spreading the notion that <i>living in joy</i> is not just a wish but a choice. All still a work in progress but a very exciting adventure that I know I am suppose to be a part of.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m really just starting out in understanding and navigating my lane in the mental wellness industry. I’m in the learning, growing and developing stage. October 1, 2025, I became a solo private practice owner. That transition was not difficult, but growing my caseload has brought about a small challenge. My goal is not to only see clients one on one in-person or virtually, but I’m currently expanding to groups, workshops and events. While preparing, contemplating and completing the transition to solo practice, I began to introduce the Live in Joy products. Particularly the Hummingbird Box Collection – a curated wellness themed gift box series – which includes a journal handcrafted by me, creative activities, affirmation decks and so forth. Along with the Hummingbird Box Collection, I also offer other items in the <i>Joy Shop</i> including, branded apparel, glass mugs with looseleaf tea included, and handcrafted journal bundles. My goal is to one day soon use a portion of the proceeds from the sell of the products to create a bank of funds that allows individuals struggling to cover therapy to have access to my services through those funds.
In this phase, I am truly learning to focus and understand my brand and what lane I should be driving in. I’m a therapist that wants to remind her community and world that ‘joy’ is not just about finding eventful moments to create happiness, but about establishing a foundation of how we live life. Through our highs and lows, joy doesn’t escape us, but we have to make a choice to live in it. With that said, Live in Joy LLC is inclusive of therapy, community events, workshops and products that encourage self-compassion, foundational joy and rest as productivity.
Currently, I host Mindful Morning Walk Pop-ups at various metro Atlanta parks to support movement and mental wellness. On the radar for February 2026 are a virtual Journaling Club (open to all), a Self-Compassion therapy group/workshop, and a Career Wellness Workshop for adults and teens preparing to launch. I’m most excited about curating the Hummingbird Petit Retreat – a half day mental wellness retreat filled with hands-on creative activities and heartfelt conversations that encourage self-compassion, sparks joy and celebrates rest for the upcoming spring or summer. I also look forward to sharing my thoughts through blogs and vlogs via <i>Chats in the “Living” Room. </i>I’m sure it sounds like a great undertaking, but I truly feel aligned to the above offerings and they have been in my vision bank for quite a bit of time. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Uh oh! I am a homebody that loves good food and a great connected conversation. So unfortunately, I don’t have an itinerary to share. Shame on me. And to make it worse, I am a Georgia Peach. Born and raised in Decatur and have lived throughout the metro area. LOL. I’m the girl that can enjoy a cozy cabin with a great group of friends playing games, chatting, laughing, crying and encouraging each other. Additionally, I enjoy a good activity outing like biking, hiking, bowling, softball, and many other physical activities, but I am rarely the planner. I’ll admit that I’m the one that waits for the itinerary to be texted in the group chat for most vacations unless I’m traveling solo. As a former project manager, I’m great at solidifying the details once the ideas are on the table. Also, I’m loads of fun to hangout with so my friends don’t really hold it against me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My village has been amazing throughout this process! The list is lengthy so please be patient with me. My fiancé, mother, father, sister (and her family), the 3Gs (Group of Good Girlfriends), my professional community and definitely my extended family (cousins, aunts/uncles, etc.). Each and everyone of them have showed up for me in ways that sometimes I am unable to comprehend. When I don’t believe, they take over and hold me accountable for my success. I have called upon them for multiple reasons – prayer, laughter, venting, focus group, investments, and so on. Each step I take in this journey, I become more comfortable and confident in allowing the village to be there for and with me. Their biggest push to me is to not be afraid to ask for what I need. I love each and everyone of them for who they are and their presence in my story. They truly trust in my ideas and believe that success is my birthright.
