Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

Artists and creatives face innumerable challenges given that their career path often doesn’t come with a playbook, a steady paycheck or any form of safety net. It’s definitely not easy and so we asked a few of the artists and creatives we admire to talk to us about why they chose to pursue an artistic or creative career.

My artistic journey is deeply rooted in my childhood, where I was surrounded by strong women and elders who showered me with love, care, and encouragement to express myself. I started looking at voice over in high school after writing an awful podcast with my best friend and creative partner, Justin Ferrell. At the time, I was resigned to pursuing some sort of psychology or medicinal practice, but I was never exactly thrilled by the idea.
