We had the good fortune of connecting with Karl Bryan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karl, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Grew up in a small town in Canada. Single mom. Hockey rinks. Tough love. We didn’t have much, but we had each other—and for a while, that was enough.

Then the bottom fell out.

My brother—one of the smartest guys I knew—took his own life after his business collapsed. Eventually, my mom drank herself to death from the grief. That was it. That was the moment everything changed.

I made a promise: no family should have to go through what mine did because of a failed business. Not on my watch.

That’s why I built Focused.com. That’s why I created the Profit Acceleration Software™. Not to hand out business theory—but to arm coaches with real tools that find real profit, fast. Because when you save a business, you don’t just save a bottom line. Sometimes, you save a life.

That’s what drives me. That’s what I wake up for every day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets us apart? Simple. We don’t teach theory—we build profitable coaching businesses with real numbers and real tools that work in the real world.

At Focused.com, we help business coaches get clients and keep clients. Our flagship tool—the Profit Acceleration Software™—lets a coach find hidden revenue in any small business in under 45 minutes, without the client spending an extra dollar on marketing or advertising. That alone turns a skeptical prospect into a paying client—fast.

But the software is just the beginning. We also build the coach’s entire business around it—marketing funnels, sales scripts, an online business academy, group coaching infrastructure… the works. It’s like giving a coach a fully loaded franchise model, but without the $100K franchise fee or a 7-year contract.

Now, was it easy getting here? Hell no.

I started out as a struggling coach myself—confused, broke, and working harder than anyone with very little to show for it. I made every mistake you can imagine. At one point, I was sleeping in my car between gigs. But I was too stubborn to quit.

Then I stopped guessing. I started tracking what worked, what didn’t, and why. I built systems. I tested everything. And over time, I packaged that into something other coaches could use to shortcut their own journey.

What I’m most proud of? Every time a coach tells me they paid off debt… or took their family on a trip for the first time in years… or helped a business owner keep the lights on and save their employees from getting laid off. That’s legacy stuff. That’s why I do this.

The lesson? Stop winging it. Find a proven system and work it. Be coachable. Show up. Do the hard things. And always lead with value.

What I want the world to know is this: you don’t need to be the smartest or most charismatic person in the room to build a thriving business coaching practice. You just need a system that works—and the willingness to use it. That’s what we provide.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Alright—if my best mate’s flying in for a week, we’re not wasting it. We’re going all in.

Day 1 – Arrival + Chill
We’d kick things off easy. Quick stop for coffee (real coffee, not the watered-down stuff), then straight to the lake or the ocean depending where I’m based that week. Feet in the water, conversation deep. No phones. Just reconnecting and laughing like idiots.

Day 2 – Golf + Steak
Morning round of golf—even if we both suck, it’s non-negotiable. It’s not about the scorecard, it’s about the banter. Then dinner at a proper steakhouse. I’m talking about a ribeye that comes with its own gravitational pull. Good scotch. Zero distractions.

Day 3 – Adventure Mode
We find something with a bit of adrenaline—jet skis, zipline, skydiving if they’ve got the stones. Followed by the greasiest, most glorious local burger joint we can find. Calories don’t count on holidays.

Day 4 – Entrepreneur Day
We spend the day building out a business idea. Doesn’t matter if it’s real or hypothetical—it’s fun for us. Whiteboard session, idea mapping, seeing if we can turn a silly idea into a six-figure product by dinner. We’ve done this before. Some of those ideas stuck.

Day 5 – Culture + Connection
We explore the town—local galleries, hidden bookstores, live music spots. Small biz owners are the heart of every city, so we make a point to stop, chat, and support a few.

Day 6 – Pub Crawl / Whiskey Crawl / Whatever Crawl
It’s time to misbehave a little. We hit a few pubs, talk to strangers, tell exaggerated stories, and pretend we’re 25 again. We’ll pay for it tomorrow, but it’s always worth it.

Day 7 – Recovery + Perspective
Final day, we hit a sauna, maybe a hike to clear the cobwebs. Reflect on the week, the past few years, and what’s next. That’s what friends are for—to push you, but also remind you how far you’ve come.

Because the truth is, the best part of the trip isn’t the itinerary. It’s the company. Good food, strong drinks, meaningful conversations, and zero pretenses.

That’s my version of a perfect week. No fluff. Just real connection, a few risks, and a hell of a lot of laughs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s a long list, but if I had to narrow it down…

First shoutout goes to my mom. She was tough as nails, had zero time for excuses, and somehow made me feel like I could do anything—even when the odds said otherwise. She taught me grit before it was a buzzword.

Second, my brother. His story is the reason I do what I do. His loss gave me purpose. He’s the silent partner in every breakthrough we create for business owners around the world.

Third, Dan Kennedy. His books taught me more about marketing than any classroom ever could. He showed me that results matter more than credentials—and that boring, direct response will outperform flashy hype any day of the week.

And finally, the coaches I work with. They’re in the trenches, doing the work, changing lives. Every time one of them lands a client, saves a business, or tells me they finally cracked six figures—that’s what keeps me going. They deserve the spotlight just as much as I do.
