We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda Dupree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yolanda, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is a small four-letter word just like fear. Most of the time risk and fear are standing side by side in front of us. For me, taking a risk in business is scary but If you allow fear to stop you then you will never see the fruits of risk. If we accept the idea that risk is going to present itself from time to time, then we wont be so fearful of taking risks.

I’ve taken many risks in my career. From starting a haircare brand to shifting my career to include the long, hard journey to become a member of IATSE Local 798 Union for TV and Film Makeup Artists and Hairstylist. I cried many days and wondered if I’d heard God clearly, now that its over, I can truly say that the risk was worth it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have three businesses that all work together .She Has Yolihair Salon is a traditional salon where clients can receive all of the basic hair se4rvices including wig and extension As hair loss specialists, clients can get non-surgical replacement unit..

The newest venture , Pampered head spa by Yoli invites clients to an unforgettable luxurious experience that encompasses a scalp facial with relaxing massage techniques. A major benefit is the mental stress relief that clients feel afterwards.

Dream Big Salon and Business Consulting allows me to pour everything that know into aspiring business owners. I want to help other men and women achieve their goals and avoid pitfalls that can delay their progress.

Navigating my businesses and personal life isn’t easy and finding life-work balance is even harder but God is faithful to me. When things get hard, I lean on my favorite scripture, Psalm 1:3, “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters. He shall bring forth fruit in it’s season, it’s leaf shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite brunch spot is Flavorich. they have two locations, Suwanee and Downtown Atlanta. My favorite dish is the Shrimp and grits. Then we would head over to Atlanta Station for some retail therapy. There’s always plenty of vendors to browse and find eclectic items. If we’re looking for fine dining then I love a good steak and that starts at Flemings Steakhouse.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The love and support from my husband, Michael Dupree, is described in the bible as a love that seeks the highest good for the wife, cherishes her, and protects her. My husband lives this everyday. He has carried me through all of my business endeavors, he comforts me when I cry and builds me up when I’m weak and am doubting myself. He is a strong man of God and I love him dearly.

I would also like to shoutout the She Has Yolihair Family. My clients are the best! They have been faithful to me for many years, and so much of my success is due to their commitment to me as their haircare professional.

As for books, The Prayer of Jabez and Secrets of the Vine, both authored by John Wilkerson, are my yearly rea. Every time I read them, God opens up a new revelation that is fresh and perfect for what I need.
