Meet Preetika Gulati | Product Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Preetika Gulati and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Preetika, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always seen creativity as a way to understand people—what they need, what they feel, and how they move through the world. Growing up, I was drawn to design because it felt like the perfect intersection of logic and emotion: solving problems while telling stories and building empathy.
My fascination began with physical products and how they worked, but as digital tools became a bigger part of our lives, I saw their potential to simplify everything—from banking to communication to travel. That’s when I realized creativity wasn’t limited to what we can see or touch—it could shape digital experiences that impact millions of lives. That realization inspired me to pursue a creative path not just as an artist, but as a problem-solver and advocate for people.
Choosing this career was also a personal leap. I left my home country and moved across the world to study UX Design at my dream college—the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). It was scary, but I knew this was where I could grow, challenge myself, and use creativity in ways that are purposeful and socially impactful.
For me, creativity isn’t just self-expression—it’s a responsibility. It’s how we build more intuitive, inclusive, and empowering solutions. That’s why I pursued a creative career: to listen more deeply, design more meaningfully, and make a real difference in people’s lives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My journey as a Product Designer is fueled by a simple but powerful belief: design should make life easier, more inclusive, and more meaningful for real people.
These days, I’m all about creating digital experiences that don’t just work — they truly connect. Whether it’s simplifying enterprise solutions, co-founding a design agency to deliver solutions that matter, or designing for AI-powered tools for industries that often get overlooked, my mission is always the same: simplify complexity, boost usability, and empower users.
I’ve had the chance to work on impactful projects—from enhancing enterprise solutions at Rocket Mortgage to reimagining travel experiences with Deloitte. One project close to my heart is ARGUS, an award-winning AI tool that breaks language barriers to improve safety and productivity on construction sites. My team and I spent time on-site, listening to workers’ stories and seeing their daily challenges firsthand. Those insights helped me craft a solution that truly made a difference — not just in productivity, but in safety and dignity. ARGUS went on to be recognized by Prototypes for Humanity in Dubai and earned a Red Dot Design Award, affirming the impact of our work.
Getting here hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Leaving my home country to study UX Design at SCAD meant stepping way outside my comfort zone — new culture, new poeple, new challenges. It wasn’t easy, but my passion for design and the belief in its power kept me going. I learned quickly that success isn’t just about talent — it’s about resilience, curiosity, and a willingness to really listen.
And that’s the biggest lesson I carry with me: great design starts with empathy and asking the right questions. It’s about working with people, not just for them. The best solutions come when we dig deeper, challenge assumptions, and keep the user front and center.
At the end of the day, I don’t design to impress — I design to uplift. To make technology more accessible, more human-centered, and more inclusive. That’s the story behind my work, and the driving force behind everything I create.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want to show them the best of what the city has to offer—a vibrant mix of culture, nature, and great local experiences. We’d start by exploring cozy cafes to soak in the local vibe and enjoy some quality time. Spending time outdoors in the city’s beautiful parks would be a must, perfect for relaxing and people-watching.
We’d visit popular attractions like the city’s renowned aquarium and museums to get a feel for its unique history and creativity. For a bit of adventure, walking along the city’s scenic trails would offer a perfect way to connect with both nature and urban art.
I’d also take them to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) to explore the inspiring creative community and vibrant campus and how SCAD has played such a big role in my journey.
It’s the kind of place where you can find a little bit of everything—and I’d love to share that with anyone visiting.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who’ve shaped my journey, but if I had to dedicate this shoutout, it would be to my family—especially my dad. He was the first person to introduce me to the world of UX Design when I was still in my teens, and he’s always encouraged me to pursue a path that aligns with both purpose and passion. Leaving home to study in the U.S. wasn’t easy, but their unwavering support gave me the courage to take that leap.
I’m also incredibly thankful to my mentors and professors at SCAD, who pushed me to think deeper, ask better questions, and always advocate for the user. And to my peers and teammates—thank you for challenging me, collaborating with me, and making every project an opportunity to grow.
Lastly, I’m grateful to the broader creative and design community for championing purpose-driven work. Being part of a network that values empathy, inclusion, and social impact reminds me every day that thoughtful design can spark real, meaningful change.
