We had the good fortune of connecting with Yung Yana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yung Yana, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art and creativity come naturally to me. My mediums are food and music and they say if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life and I align with that statement.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a singer-songwriter and chef, and what sets me apart is the way I’ve merged these two seemingly different worlds into one cohesive expression of art and connection. Through my music, I tell stories, evoke emotion, and build an atmosphere, and through my food, I bring those same narratives to life in a sensory and tangible way.

It hasn’t been an easy journey to get here. Balancing two careers in creative fields meant navigating different industries, honing distinct skill sets, and finding the courage to embrace the unconventional path of merging them. There were times when I felt like I had to choose between one passion or the other, but instead, I created spaces where both could coexist.

One of the ways I’ve done this is through my dinner series, Insatiable, which blends my culinary expertise with my artistry as a musician. These events are intimate, immersive experiences where people can enjoy inventive food while also connecting with music and community. It’s about more than just dinner or a performance—it’s about creating a world for people to step into.

What I’m most proud of is the ability to turn challenges into opportunities for growth. Learning to trust my instincts and take risks has been key, as well as building a community of people who believe in and support my vision.

I want the world to know that my brand, Insatiable Table , isn’t just about food or music—it’s about building bridges, sparking connection, and creating art that feeds the soul. My story is one of resilience, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of blending worlds to bring joy to others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting, the week would be all about food, fun, and soaking up everything that makes Atlanta special—a true “Eat, Pray, Love” adventure.

We’d start with a walk on the Beltline to enjoy the city’s energy and public art. Along the way, we’d stop for coffee or matcha at one of my favorite spots like Little Tart Bakery, Wave3, Academy Coffee, or Brash. For breakfast, I’d take them to Kinship, where the breakfast sandwiches are simple and delicious, crafted with care.

Since food is my love language, we’d spend a lot of time exploring Atlanta’s dining scene. I’d take them to Delbar for unforgettable Persian flavors, Pollo Primo for rotisserie chicken that’s always on point, and Salt Your Food at Bovino After Dark for creative dishes full of bold, exciting flavors. We’d also venture to Hai Chinese in Decatur for classic comfort dishes. Of course, we’d set aside a day to explore Buford Highway—playing “Buford Highway Roulette” to choose a random restaurant and dive into something new.

A stop at Buford Highway Farmers Market would be non-negotiable. I could spend hours wandering the aisles, discovering unique global snacks and ingredients. Over the weekend, we’d hit a local farmers’ market, pick out fresh ingredients, and cook a feast together. It’s one of my favorite ways to connect—with good food, great music, and even better company.

For brunch, we’d head to JenChan’s and skip the usual dishes to order their Brussels sprouts and their pizza, which I genuinely think is some of the best in the city. Atlanta’s pizza scene is a little lackluster, but JenChan’s absolutely nails it—texture, flavor, balanced, and so satisfying.

To round out the trip, at least one night would be dedicated to finding a great DJ event and dancing the night away. Atlanta’s nightlife is full of energy, and there’s nothing like getting lost in the music.

The week would be about connecting over food, music, and the city’s undeniable charm—leaving them with an unforgettable taste of Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My beautiful community of friends who are also artists. I wouldn’t do what I do without their support and encouragement.
