We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Jante and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Jante Productions was born out of a simple but powerful realization: If I wanted to see more compelling, dynamic roles for LGBT talent beyond the usual stereotypes or sidekick roles, I had to create them myself. As someone who’s spent time in front of the camera, I knew firsthand that there was a gap—one that needed more than just surface-level representation.

Personally, I’m drawn to thrillers, horror, and fantasy—genres rich with potential for world-building, layered storytelling, and characters who evolve beyond tropes. But at the time, much of what I saw in LGBT-focused productions leaned heavily on drama and, well, let’s just say a lot of s*x scenes that didn’t always serve the story. I wanted something different: gripping narratives, immersive worlds, and character-driven arcs that resonated.

So, instead of waiting for someone else to make it happen, I did what any storyteller with a dream (and maybe a touch of impatience) would do—I built it myself. Jante Productions isn’t just about making films; it’s about reshaping the industry, one bold, genre-bending story at a time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At Jante Productions, we don’t just tell stories—we build worlds. Our signature? A bold fusion of Thriller, Horror, and Fantasy within the indie LGBTQ+ realm, brought to life with a level of depth and detail that makes every project worth watching twice (or more).

What sets us apart? Rewatch-ability. Every film, every series, every story we create isn’t just a standalone experience—it’s a piece of a larger universe. The first time you watch, you’re along for the ride. The second time? You start to notice the breadcrumbs, the hidden layers, the paths not taken. With twists that shift perspectives and narratives that unfold in unexpected ways, our stories reward those who pay attention.

Jante Productions isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about engagement. We craft journeys that invite audiences to think, feel, and immerse themselves in a world where nothing is ever quite as it seems. Because in our universe, there’s always more than meets the eye.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to exploring the city, I’ll admit—I’m more of a creature of habit than an adventurous tour guide. If someone’s looking for an off-the-beaten-path excursion, I might not be the first to volunteer. But if they’re up for a classic Atlanta staple like Stone Mountain, the BeltLine trail, or a relaxing afternoon at the park, I’m all in.

For me, it’s never been about where we go—it’s about who we’re with. Whether it’s a board game night at a friend’s place or a simple stroll outside, the best experiences come from quality connections, not just exciting locations. At the end of the day, it’s the company that makes the moment memorable, not the destination.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Storytelling has always been a bridge—connecting people, cultures, and ideas across time. For me, that connection has been shaped by incredible stories that sparked my imagination and inspired me to create dynamic, authentic characters. From the masterful world-building of Avatar: The Last Airbender—(the cartoon, of course, not that movie)—to the gripping twists of Game of Thrones and the action-packed energy of RWBY, these narratives showed me the power of immersive storytelling.

Beyond the screen, literature has been just as influential. The heartfelt works of E. Lynn Harris, the page-turning charm of Heartstopper, and the enduring magic of Harry Potter have all played a role in shaping my creative vision. They reminded me that stories aren’t just entertainment—they’re an experience, a way to see ourselves and others in new and profound ways.

But inspiration isn’t just found in books and shows—it’s also found in the people who believe in your dreams. My fiancé Kyle, my siblings, my relatives, and my friends have been unwavering supporters of my mission to connect us all through storytelling. Their encouragement fuels my passion to create narratives that go beyond stereotypes and bring diverse, compelling characters to the forefront.

As the great Willy Wonka once said, “There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination.” And through storytelling, we get to live in that world—one story at a time.
