We had the good fortune of connecting with Day Renée and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Day, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic career because, at my core, I am art. Creativity flows through me like a second language, & photography is the medium through which I speak it. I don’t just take pictures—I capture emotion, love, & fleeting moments that tell stories without words. Art isn’t something I do; it’s who I am. Photography was never just a choice; it was the only path that made sense, the one that allowed me to fully express the depth of what I feel and see. Through my lens, I create something timeless—something that moves people, just as art is meant to do. It fuels me, it inspires me. It inspires others at times as well. And there’s so many things it can be. Art isn’t just one thing, it’s everything. As a creative, if you wanted to, you could turn anything into art. I chose lifestyle photography.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is an extension of who I am—deep, emotional, & filled with passion. I’m a lifestyle photographer, but my style leans into the dark & moody, with an almost cinematic feel. I don’t just take pictures, I create moments that make you feel something. Every shadow, every highlight tells a story, & I want my work to resonate on a level that goes beyond just the visual.

I embrace the depth of emotion in my photography. I don’t shy away from the moody tones, the rich contrast, the intensity of a stolen glance or a quiet embrace. My work isn’t just about capturing what something looks like—it’s about capturing what it feels like. I am most proud when someone looks at my work & not only sees a beautiful image but feels something deeply. That’s what my art is all about.

Additionally, I adore the relationships I build with my clients. I make friends with the people I photograph because connection is at the heart of what I do. When people trust me, they let their true selves show, and that’s when the magic happens.

This year, I’m really excited to take things to the next level & make a name for myself in my city. It’s hard, & it can feel unattainable at times, but I love a challenge. And I love what I do. So holla at me this time next year for the update! 🙂

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooouu, that’s easy! Atlanta has sooo much to offer its cray cray. I love a gooood burger, so we’d have to make a stop at The Establishment in Midtown or Argosy in Little Five. Best burgers I’ve had to date.

I’m also very competitive & enjoy playing games, sooo Dave & Busters – an oldie but a goodie. Ormsby’s is a cool spot as well if you like bocce ball – a fun game with a group, and the food is levels up from your typical bar food.

And what kind of friend would I be if we didn’t get tattoos?! Southern Star Tattoo on Ponce for some body art as the cherry on top. Shoutout to Josh Hanes!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my journey as a photographer, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have unwavering support from those who believe in me. My husband has been my rock from the very beginning—he didn’t just encourage my dreams, he put a camera in my hands & set me on this path. That first camera wasn’t just a gift, it was the spark that ignited my passion into a career, & his belief in me continues to fuel my artistry every day. From picking up my slack with the kids on long editing nights, to accompanying me to a shoot to help set up lighting equipment, to helping me create & record content, I can count on him to have my back and I’m so grateful.

I also have deep gratitude for my friend, Michael. He’s kind of a big deal in our industry & I have a lot of respect for him as a person & a fellow photographer. Despite his success and the heights he’s reached, he has never been too busy to offer guidance, advice, & encouragement. I appreciate him & value our friendship personally & professionally. Having people like him in my corner has made this journey not only possible but even more meaningful.
