Meet Ethan Paul | founder and ceo of Redd 13 Productions

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ethan Paul and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ethan, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
There isn’t an “end goal”. There are definitely goals that I want my business to accomplish, but I want my business to transform and adapt to whatever the people need it to be as the times change, giving my business its own immortal life that continually services the culture and the community. A few of the current business goals are to produce a successful short film, feature film, TV show, and internet show. I’m focusing on these goals one at a time, but every one of these goals will be fulfilled sooner or later.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art spans various genres, and that’s what I love about it. If you go to the YouTube page, you will see a whole world of different videos, from short films to trailers to cooking videos to music breakdowns. But what you will find is that even though the videos might be different from each other, all of the videos have the same amount of care and relative quality to it. Another thing I love about my art is that there is something for everyone. One of my goals is to unite everybody into a space where they can enjoy themselves or take information. One of the hardest things about doing this is that on my end, I need to put out content constantly, and that can be very taxing on my mental and creative energy, especially without having a solid team specializing in this sort of thing. I plan on overcoming this challenge by just focusing my energy on getting as much content as I can and then putting my energy into editing or putting out the content. I learned that when I try to film a video, edit it, and then try and put it out in one sitting, I get drained. I want my art to shift the world and spark conversations, whether the conversation is about something fun or something that we as a people need to hear.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s say my best friend is staying the week in Atlanta and comes in on Monday. That Monday would be more of a chill day. We would go and eat at Little Bangkok and just chill at the crib. On Tuesday, we would go to Chattahoochee FoodWorks and get lunch and then go to Top Golf. After that, we would chill at the crib until later on, when we would go and eat at RockSteady. Right after eating, we will go upstairs and dance the night away at Bamba Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will go to the Georgia Aquarium. After that, we will go to the Coca Cola factory. After that we will grab some lunch in the area and then head to Piedmont Park and have a nice outdoor day. Later that night we could get rreal tacos before going back to rock steady and experiencing their dancehall delight (not eating there but going straight to their music hall). On Thursday, we could go to stone mountain in the morning and do a hike, and then after that we could go and get brunch at Toast on Lenox. Then after chilling at the crib, later on towards the evening, we can go to Atlantic station and catch a movie, then eat at one of the restaurants there, and then go bowling at bowlero. On Friday, we would go to Perimeter mall, then lenox mall, then go to frog street and walk the belt line and eat either at krog street market or ponce city market, then go to the roof of ponce city market and vibe there. Then after that, at night, we can go to Magic City. Then on Saturday, we can go to Six flags and spend the day there, then eat at Wagya, pregame at the crib, then go to MJQ. Then on Sunday, we can go to I luv hot pot, then do some karaoke, before going back to the city and catching a hawks game. And that would be the whole week,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out God and my parents for their constant support. I want to shout out Sisipho. When I create short films, he is my go-to director behind the camera while I am acting in front of it. Our chemistry is unmatched, and I trust him to carry out my vision. I would also like to shout out Brazil. We have only worked on one short film together, but that was all it took to realize that she is an amazing asset, and I would want her to be on any project I create. I want to shout out Joel for being one of the first people to want to work with me and my films, and I want to thank him for his constant support. And finally, I want to thank my friends who are always on board for any crazy ideas I have, whether in the scenes or behind them.
