We had the good fortune of connecting with David Belser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
That you can put a bed swing in just about any location of your house as long as their is a roof or ceiling joist above it.

What should our readers know about your business?
We manufacture indoor/outdoor hanging and non=hanging daybeds along with all the cushions and accessories. We have been in business for 11 years, I started out going to various shows around the Atlanta and Nashville area, mainly Scott’s antique market and Americasmart shows until Covid hit, then business really took off online cutting out the need to continue to go the shows, but these shows are what spring boarded me into what my business has become. Being on the road and setting up booths for these shows was the most challenging part of getting started.
I have learned that manufacturing a product is much more expensive than I ever thought, with all the costs of materials, insurance, taxes, payroll that seem to consistently increase. This makes it even more difficult specially when a large majority of our competition comes from one-man operations that work from their garage.
I have been self-taught, or I should say You-Tube taught my entire life as I have come from a long line of lawyers with no experience woodworking. My dad always told me “don’t become a lawyer, there are too many of them”. I started this business while finishing up school living on a farm called “Four Oaks Plantation”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start by going to a Braves or Falcons game, the aquarium, Coca Cola factory, see a comedy show, walk through Piedmont Park, Ponce City Market, the Beltline. There are so many great restaurants to choose from, but I would say the must haves are Gunshow, the vortex, north highland pub, El tesoro,

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife is the reason I have come so far in this industry, she has been the encouragement that I need to take the risks I have taken. She has always been the positive light in the often stressful life of a business owner.

Also, a great architect and designer, Tom Adams, who recently passed from cancer. He helped start a prominent design firm Adams-Gerndt based in Birmingham Al, He gave me the idea and encouragement to focus on Bed Swings 12 years ago.
