Meet Fayha Sheikh | Entrepreneur & Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fayha Sheikh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fayha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The inspiration for starting my dessert business came from a very personal place. My brother’s wedding was approaching, and given that he has multiple allergies, I realized there were very few dessert options that could accommodate his needs. Gluten and nut allergies, in particular, are often overlooked by many dessert businesses. I wanted to ensure that he and his guests could enjoy delicious treats without worrying about potential allergens. This personal experience not only sparked the idea but also motivated me to create a business that specialises in accommodating people with allergies.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always had a passion for baking but what sets me apart from others is the level of customisation and attention to detail I put into every order. I work closely with my clients to bring their visions to life, whether it’s a unique flavor, theme, or design. I always do my best especially to help people with allergies so they enjoy desserts without worry. It’s not always easy—there have been countless challenges, from balancing schoolwork with my new business to figuring out the logistics of running everything from home. But I’ve learned that persistence is key. There were many moments when I wanted to give up, but every setback taught me something valuable, whether it was improving my baking skills, mastering time management, or learning how to connect with customers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend visited Atlanta for a week, I’d plan a mix of food, nature, and local culture. We’d start with breakfast at Fluffy Fluffy and a visit to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, followed by lunch at 98K Fried Chicken. We’d explore the Georgia Aquarium, take a walk through Piedmont Park, and enjoy a rooftop drink at Ponce City Market. We’d dive into Atlanta’s history with a visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. National Park and enjoy local food spots like Mary Mac’s Tea Room and The Optimist. For a fun adventure, we’d hike Stone Mountain and end the trip with drinks at The Roof at Ponce City Market, taking in stunning views of the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my family, especially my brother and sister-in-law, who played a huge role in getting my dessert business off the ground. From the very beginning, they all believed in me, even when I wasn’t sure I could make it work. My sister-in-law was particularly instrumental—she offered both practical help, and emotional support when I doubted myself. My brother offered tech support and launched my website Sweettreatsbyfay.com Having that unwavering encouragement, coupled with their love and faith in my ability, gave me the confidence to keep going.
