We love ourselves a good quote and so we asked our community to share their favorite quotes and affirmations with us and we’ve highlighted some below.

A quote attributed to Lao-Tze, a Chinese philosopher: “Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”
To me, in simple terms it means be careful about the things I think about and how I think about them, because my thoughts drive me to who I become. What I dwell on in my thinking, will determine what I become in my life. If I can control my thoughts, I can control my destiny. “The only way out is through.” I think we all get stuck sometimes. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and get paralyzed by it. Sometimes there is so much to do, or the task in front of us is so distasteful that the thought of doing it is enough to freeze you in your tracks. I have both a favorite affirmation and bible verse. The first quote is by Issa Rae where she references to black women and the magic we possess, ” We give love and we give life no matter who tries us.” I like this quote because it speaks volumes about who we are as black woman facing many challenges yet still showing up every day to get through and face the world. To have a nurturing spirit and a genuine, loving heart during trying times is something that I take pride in, it costs nothing to keep going and to keep pushing through no matter what I am facing, it shows resilience and adaptability.
