We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabella Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isabella, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I personally feel like the biggest habit I have formed when it comes to makeup is to NEVER stop practicing. When I was in middle school if I said I wanted to be a makeup artist I would’ve gotten laughed at. I didn’t understand the whole concept of doing makeup but I kept playing with makeup no matter what. I constantly watched youtube videos and continued to try, I continued to practice my eyeshadow blending and constantly tried new products. I worked on my craft before I even graduated high school. I will never stop watching videos and attending events to perfect my skill. Along with that the beauty industry is always growing and evolving with new trends and products. These habits I will continue to use throughout my career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
No two makeup artist are the same, we all are different in someway. I personally believe what sets me apart is I have learned and practiced all types of makeup. I can do bridal but also can be put in a zombie movie and do some cool special effects. I wouldn’t have gotten where I am today without personal discipline and again, lots of practice. The biggest thing I’ve heard along the way is “Wow, good luck. That’s a hard industry.” I’ve also heard I’m never going to make it and I’m not good at what I do. As upsetting and discouraging as those words can be, they have only motivated me more. I know I can make it and even though I’m still growing I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had so far, and cannot wait to have more opportunities come my way!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is a city with a million things to do. If you’re in the city at the time of a musical at The Fox Theatre I definitely recommend going! I also love the Metro Atlanta area like The Avalon. I also love the holiday season around the city there are lots of seasonal themed restaurants and places to ice skate. I recommend going on Instagram and finding food bloggers for the best recommendations!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to start by thanking my family and my fiancé for supporting me throughout my whole process. I am surrounded by love and support from my family and friends and that helps motivate me to continue. Along with that God has guided me throughout this journey I give all glory to Him! I also want to shoutout my makeup certification course, I advanced my skills with Julia Dantas Beauty Academy. I did an online course for 6 weeks and learned everything from the basics to starting my business, so thank you Julia!
