Meet Juniper Fizz | Burlesque dancer, cabaret singer and pin up model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Juniper Fizz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juniper, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
It’s been a whirlwind few years for me since I launched my burlesque career, and I absolutely couldn’t have done it without the help I have gotten from The Candybox Revue. For many people burlesque is a solo endeavor, but I couldn’t be happier to have such a wonderful and sparkly community to make art with.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m still very much in the foundational era of my burlesque career, I’m working to build out a strong collection of acts that are fully fleshed out. It is important to me that the costume, concept and execution are all as good as they can be. I think my strongest attributes so far are a strong eye for styling and a rather obsessive relationship with music sat on top of a lifetime as a Musical Theatre Nerd.
I try to learn as much as I can, even though I have graduated from The Atlanta School of Burlesque, I still take all the classes I can with new teachers. I’m also set to take on a new challenge of becoming a teacher with ASB myself. I sing in an LGBTQ+ choir called OurSong as well, and it has been a wonderful challenge in regaining my technical singing abilities in addition to being another lovely queer community space. I’m very much in a “yes, and” era of my life and so much of this journey for me is about asking for help and going after opportunities that seem interesting.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For coffee: Little Tart, Waller’s Coffee
For brunch: Ria’s Bluebird, Sun in my Belly, Java Jive
For lunch: La Fonda, eRamen, Farm Burger
For dinner: The Deer and The Dove, a mano, Cafe Lily
For entertainment: look for concert listings at The Masquerade, burlesque shows at Metropolitan Studios, or drag shows hosted by Wussy Mag.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Metropolitan Studios and its owner and operator Roula Roulette. Metro Studios is a testament not only to Roula’s incredible business acumen, but also her vision for a space that is open and welcoming to those needing a loving community and is also fierce in its values for transparency and equity, advocating for marginalized folks who find safety there. Spaces like that become more important everyday and I feel so, so lucky to have found mine.
