We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista Durant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krista, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a single parent, I believe the most important thing I’ve done for my children is breaking generational cycles and fostering an environment of learning, growth, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. Growing up, I witnessed patterns that I knew needed to change, and I made it my mission to ensure my children would have a different experience.
One of the pivotal steps I’ve taken is to prioritize education and personal development, both for myself and my children. By continuously learning and growing, I set an example that knowledge is a powerful tool for change. I’ve enrolled in courses, read extensively, and sought mentors who could guide me in becoming the best version of myself. This journey has been incredibly impactful, not just for me, but for my children who see the value of lifelong learning.
Entrepreneurship has also been a significant focus in our household. I’ve actively involved my children in my business ventures, teaching them the principles of entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and the importance of hard work and resilience. This hands-on experience has equipped them with skills that are not only valuable for their future careers but also for their personal growth. They understand the value of innovation, the importance of perseverance, and the satisfaction that comes from achieving goals.
Moreover, advocacy is a cornerstone of our family values. I’ve taught my children to stand up for what they believe in, to be voices for the voiceless, and to contribute positively to their community. Whether it’s through volunteering, supporting local causes, or simply being kind and empathetic individuals, my children have learned that they can make a difference.
Breaking these cycles and instilling these values has not been easy, but it has been profoundly rewarding. My children are growing up with a sense of purpose, equipped with the tools and mindset to navigate and impact the world positively. They are learning to be independent thinkers, compassionate leaders, and dedicated learners. This, I believe, is the most significant and lasting impact I can have as a parent.

The journey to where I am today has been anything but easy. Building my brand and financial foundation required overcoming significant challenges, particularly in leveraging business credit.
